I've re-aggravated a high groin pull with squats today. so that sucks. I'll try to do some bodyweight rehab stuff for the next week or so & see how it feels. Chest was really sore yesterday & today from the DB Bench on Saturday.

BJJ - 1.5 Hours.


Holy hell, got my ass stomped all night tonight. Training with an ex-pro fighter (2-3 record, yes he has a fighter profile on Sherdog) who was a D1 wrestler in college. Out-weighs me by 30 lbs at least. Man he's a handful on the mats. Super nice guy too, but I'm hurting...

I need to go back to Hawaii...

First time throwing anything in a while. I have to make throwing a priority for the next couple of weeks. The Ventura Highland Games are October 13th and I'm not even close to prepared. A throwing practice like this is perfect - it took about an hour & I got some quality time in with 2 implements. Hopefully I can get together with some of the OC Highlanders on Sunday & get some work in with the HWFD, Heavy Hammer, WOB & Caber - which I don't have at home.

LWFD felt pretty good today. Most of the 10 full throws were in the 48-51' range, with 2 of the throws over 50'. That's ok, but not great. My PR is 54'7", which I hit in San Diego, but that's the only time I've thrown over 51'. I'm trying to focus on bending my knees & keeping my head up. Footwork still needs work.

Standing throws for o-stone are getting better. I'm throwing my light stone around 40' standing. Full throws weren't great, I was tired at this point, but at least I got some reps in.

A little late to the party, but the trip to the tide pools sounds SOOO COOL!!!!

Thanks man - it's funny, the groin pull seems to be isolated to squats and sprints. Hasn't bothered me at Jiu-jitsu & didn't bother me throwing today.

BJJ
- 1 Hour Beginner Class

Went to the Beginner class today for an hour - it was good to drill a few variations of the cross-collar choke & work on my hip movement from closed guard. Got to move some without killing myself, I'm still pretty sore from getting raped on the mats yesterday and my face is a mess.

Crap day at the gym today. My elbow was really hurting, not sure if its from BJJ or from my throwing practice yesterday...maybe both. I'm super stressed out at work and home, which doesn't help things. Back was hurting during deadlifts and 385 felt heavy, so I didn't do the planned set at 430. SOHP felt pretty good.

Or let it make you drink. I'm a drinker, but I make it a rule not to drink when I'm stressed or sad.
 
Thanks guys - appreciate the comments. Everything is fine here, just need to take a step back & take a deep breath. Feeling a little overwhelmed between work & home at the moment...

Bench felt pretty good. I'm still working on foot positioning to keep my feel flat on the floor. I'm not getting as much leg drive as before, so I need to keep working on it. Groin was talking to me a bit during the squats, but I didn't go too heavy, so nothing too bad. Wondering if I should add 2-3 additional light warm-up sets when I'm squatting to make sure my adductor gets properly warmed up.

Got in the gym at 7:30 this morning, but had to cut it short to go to work. If I get home in time, going to try to get to BJJ this evening. I'm dealing with the stress a little better - workout felt pretty good today, I'm also doing a little better job sleeping.
