My ADD Training Log - 2012

Great stuff Calvus....what's your strongest event?

Thanks, man -

I'm not sure what you mean....if you mean strongest event in Highland Games, it's probably the Stones. Although my Weight For Distance and Caber are not bad. Sheaf is the worst, followed by Weight over Bar & Hammers.

Do you do Highland Games as well?

For powerlifting, my squats are feeling the best right now. I'm stoked for Saturday.

Sorry, I meant highland games.

I was going to start throwing the hammer a year or so ago but circumstances changed and I haven't found anywhere that does it since. I am however getting a discus for my birthday this weekend though.

Good luck with your meet, kill it.

I threw Shotput & discus in High School - really enjoyed it! Have fun with the discus.

Just wanted to get in the gym today & move a little. I did my 1st 2 planned warmup sets for Squat & Bench today. Everything felt pretty good, but I'm glad I did this so there's no guesswork on meet day. When I workout at Gold's, I typically ride a stationary bike for 5 minutes, then do some foam rolling & dynamic stretching - essentially the Agile 8. But I'm pretty sure there won't be bikes available at the meet, so today I decided to use some hip swings & bodyweight squats to warm-up to see how it felt. And it felt "ok" but not great. I think I'm going to cut a 12-18" piece off of my foam roller at home so I can bring it with me on Saturday & I'll do my normal warm-up minus the bike.

Also, I was planning on my 1st set of squats being about 175, but that's too heavy. I need to 1st set to be 135 & I'll work up from there. So I'm tweaking my warmup plan for Saturday accordingly.

I put all of my planned lifts & warmups into Excel & have it in a spreadsheet. Using Dropbox, I can see the excel file from my iPhone, so there's no guessing while I'm at the meet. I know my warmup lifts, I know my openers & I know my plan for the 2nd & 3rd lifts.

Right now I'm feeling confident & looking forward to Saturday!

Weigh-ins are Friday morning at 10am. I weighed in at 218.6 at home this morning. Since I don't know how accurate my scale is, my plan is to avoid carbs today & I won't eat anything after about 6pm. I'll weigh myself in the morning & decide what I'm going to do about breakfast prior to the weigh ins.

Looks like you have everything planned out already. Good job. I'll also bring my pvc pipe with me so i can roll my back for warmups. Hope to see you there at the weigh ins.

Edit: sent you a PM...

Weighed 217.2 this morning on my scale at home. Going to have a small cup of coffee but that's it before the weigh-ins. I'll probably bring a PB&J sandwich & a Gatorade to eat after weigh-ins.

There is also an equipment check at the weight-ins, so I've got my bag packed with my singlet, shirt, belt, socks, shoes, knee-wraps, wrist-wraps, etc...I expect that to be pretty straight-forward. And lastly, I'll get to check the bench & squat racks & put in what height & want things set at.

I have to get some work done this morning at the home office, then I'm on a conference call from 9-10, then I'll leave & should be at the gym around 10:30. The sheet says weigh-ins are from 10:00-11:30, so I hope that means I can drop in any time.

Good luck Calvus!! Put your hard work and training to the test!

Can't wait to hear about it.

Good luck man! Remember to have fun also, I think you'll do great!

Good luck and have fun. And of course, kill it!!!

Weighed in at 215 this morning at Metroflex Gym in Long Beach. Equipment check was no problem & I'm ready to go. I got to meet fellow sherdogger Hatchoo standing in the weigh-in line. He's all set as well, we both came in 5 lbs under weight :icon_lol:

Here's my plan for tomorrow:

Squat: 374 / 407 / 429
Bench : 259 / 275 / 286
Deadlift: 418 / 462 / 484

Had a nice Subway sandwich for lunch, planning on home-made spaghetti for dinner. I'll get a nice breakfast & lunch in tomorrow & then head to Metroflex around 1 or 2, my flight should be getting started around 3pm.

GL man! always fun reading about peoples meet experience

Best of luck, calvus. You're a smart lifter, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if you go nine-for-nine today. I'll be eagerly awaiting hearing your results tonight; I have a feeling you're going to be seeing a lot of white lights today.

Good luck, Calvus. Looking forward to seeing your results, and hopefully some vids too.
