Good workout, short rests between everything today. Deadlifts felt pretty good. I feel like they aren't progressing much, but 405 was my 1RM at this time last year. And it wasn't even really that hard today, so I'm making good progress I think. I was starving by the end or the workout & skipped the rest of the gripper stuff. Went and ate a ton of sushi.

BJJ - 2 Hours


Advanced class followed by 1 hour of sparring. In class we worked on 3 variations of hip toss, and then a new escape from bottom side mount. Later, I was able to use this against a new blue belt, and almost had success against a purple. The technique is to bridge & shoot my arm under to the opponents belt, then extend my arm and hip escape to get some distance & get to my knees.

Had several sparring sessions, maybe 5-6. Did reasonably well. Still need to work on opening my game up some. Got to roll with Ricardo our head instructor. He's about my size, which is great.
 
Nice pulling. I love the feeling of lifting an old 1RM for a handful of (relatively) easy singles. I find that drives home progress just as much as hitting a new PR.

TRX fallouts? Are those like ab roll-outs but with TRX straps? extra functional!
 
That almost mimicked my deadlift session. Which pretty much means it was epic.

And yes, TRX fallouts are ab rollouts on my DIY TRX at home :)

So I'm trying to clean my diet up a bit in February. I'm not really dieting at the moment & no goals for gaining or losing weight, just trying to eat a little healthier. So I'm going to try to cut out or down on the following:

- Cut out Fast Food (this will be hard)
- Cut out sugar (not a big deal for me)
- Cut down on the alcohol (this will be really tough, but I drink too much right now)

So I see February as sort of a transition diet phase, then I'll start adding some cardio in March & start a full-on diet in April so I lose weight for summer & can do well in a 5k on July 4th.
 
does fast food include pizza?

No Pizza = Suicide.
 
Nope. Just drive-through restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, etc, etc....

You know the key is healthy snacks, right? You eat junk when you are hungry & lazy. So you need to stop yourself getting hungry so that you don't succumb as you are driving past Maccy D's. I find that grazing on nuts, or sonething at 4pm like a banana, piece of fruit or rye cracker with some cheese is enough.
 
I stopped eating fast food for about two weeks. I seem to have gained weight. Hmph!

Also, this one is my favorite.

 
Jaunty - I think the key for me is planning ahead. I usually eat junk food when I'm in a hurry.

WC - yeah, I went watched a bunch of that kids videos - pretty funny, I had never seen them before...

Good Stuff today - The last few deadlift singles at 365 felt better than the 1st few. Felt like I was getting in the groove. That's good news for me, but bad news for the number 500. Because I'm gonna kill it.
