Modern MMA absolutely sucks

The skill levels of fighters has never been higher. The match making has never been better outside of the title scene, which has also been problematic in the past. Regional fighters have never had more opportunities than they have had the last few years to get eyes on their abilities and prove themselves. There has never been as much MMA readily available as there is now.

The product will never be perfect, and it never has been. I'm happy I have all these opportunities to watch MMA often. It's light years beyond what it used to be. The sport may be harder to follow as it's never been more active nor had a deeper roster on it's main stage, but I rarely see that as an issue. Just be more selective in what you watch and follow the fighters who resonate with you.

I don't need personalized trunks, fireworks, a huge screen with some mediocre graphics and a ramp to enjoy fighters or fights.

Yeah I'm feeling disinterested as well and the generic feeling is a big part of it. I've been far more excited about the NBA playoffs this year and I quit watching basketball 5 years ago. I guess the NBA is kinda generic as well but it's great if you've been away from it for a while.
I’m utterly confused by the usage of “generic” here. In fact I find the comment a perfect example of “generic”, it doesn’t really say anything.

All those people with 1000+ post complaining every year but still keep on watching.
Its a miracle.
I actually don’t watch it any more, literally watch the highlights on bt sport at best. LOL

I have not bothered to watch a Card in years. You are right to give up on the UFC it sucks

I preferred the old ufc with its better lighting around the cage.

In boxing fights you can see the crowd during fights and when there's action you can see the crowd standup/cheer. Unlike the UFC which might aswell have no crowd, because you can't see then anyway. It just seems to affect the atmosphere.

I've been told that the lights are dimmed around in the audience because it creates better visibility with a bright cage and darkness in the stands.

It is just too boring at this point

Nearly every fight now is a just a point sparring match that goes to a split decision

Too many no names cans clogging up the UFC roster
I still don't understand why they don't split it into a major and minor league so they can build some name power and make stacked cards people will actually buy.

As in it has no personality, charm or creativity. It's just a clean corporate product playing it safe sticking to the same tired formula. Movies, sitcoms, music, etc can have a generic feel too as opposed to genuine art. In contrast PRIDE had a ton of personality. Euroleage basketball is a fucking riot every game compared with NBA.

I'm mainly talking about the production and crowd atmosphere. Not the sport itself

Even the lighting in the octagon is dim and depressing.

I'm losing interest.
You might just be stuck in the mud as a fight fan. Try smoking a joint right before the fights start.

The difference between modern MMA and where is came from is how the puzzle has been solved. Fighters are all pretty well rounded. All fighters train all the techniques even if they aren't as good at some.

Historically MMA became about pitting disciplines of fighter against each other and that was exciting to see which style would come out on top. That is never going to come back. Sport is different now, that is okay. If you aren't into it find something you are into :)

All the guys who post nonstop on here with 50–100k posts get so upset if the ufc is criticized.

Don't forget how deliberately stupid they are when you try to have an actual discussion about the UFC's shortcomings.

"(X) is something that's happening and here are more details on the (X) problem."

"Yeah? Justify (something not even remotely related to the X that has been described to them multiple times)!"

"For fuck's sake."

"Why would someone be upset now and not four years ago????"

Mindless deflection.

MMA in the 90s werent more nice, it was just a new thing. Now it's just basically the same thing but it is not new and seasoned fans might get bored. This is probably why clown-fights with 'The Paul-brothers' and retired Mike Tyson have took place and getting some recognition.
