I agree with you on everything apart from the lights. I started losing interest and then realised I'm just getting old and cynical about everything.

I liked the TUF era best but theres still plenty to like now. At the end of the day if you like MMA on an actual technical level and wanna see good fights between good fighters you're still getting that frequently.

Ok, since it's the kind of thread that will create a lot of troll answers, let's try to do the opposite for a minute.

First, bare in mind that there's no truth in that title. I'm not saying "modern mma" is great either, that depends of your taste... it's subjective, personal...

With that being said, your taste can actually change over the years. I remember back when I was 14 years old, I couldn't listen to Slipknot "Iowa", I though it was "too much", now I enjoy Grindcore or black metal stuff without issues. I guess part of it comes from the fact that I trusted the idea that it was me who didn't see (or hear in that case) the point and it was not some truth steming from the actual product I was experiencing. Same for anything, movies, novels and, I guess, MMA.

Now I don't blame you as it took me a while to move from Pride to UFC without repeating to myself "oh fuck theses rules, i want epic entrances, introductions, i want grand prix, ...". I don't really how or when it hapened but I love every eras of mma now. o I guss anybody can do it too, the point is, if you rally want to love it.

Now if you don't, the good news is, that there are a shitload of material from the mid 90's to, say, late 2000's, and it will take you a while to watch this in full and chronological order. Just do it, enjoy and forget about "modern mma".

The level of fighters is far higher. There was a time when Fedor was considered an unbeatable monster.

Your problem isn’t modern MMA, it’s the UFC. I agree though that the UFC’s product just keeps getting worse and the reasons are obvious.
