Minotauro has 3 TIMES more Top 10 Wins than Frank Mir

If Mir > Nog then

MTB > Faber,
Hallman > Hughes,
Hendo > Shogun,
Rampage > Chuck,
Weidman > Anderson
Overeem > Vitor, etc

I use more of my brain that to reduce these kind of arguments to that basic level of simplicity, though.

Mir got the better on two nights, just as Wand did over Rampage in 2003-4. Doesn't mean things can't change, as Rampage showed Wand in fight #3 and doesn't affect the fact that Wand WAS better at one point. Mir was better than Nog at that point, but doesn't mean had the fight been in 2005, the reverse would be true...

Nog tried to play jiujitsu with Frank Mir, and didn't last 30 seconds.

All the fight finder research in the world isn't going to change that fact.

Greatest submission of all time.

Indeed. One of the most intense sequences in all of MMA.

Minotauro is awesome, and in the grand scope of things, he has a greater legacy than Mir. But it's hard to say he's a better fighter when Mir finished him by strikes and by submission.

Pride fan boys die a little inside every time they remember Mir knocked out nog. Then they start crying when it comes to them Mir broke his fucking arm in the rematch.

Nog has had the better career though.

Me and my friends went ape shit

Mir just outmanned him. Lets call it what it is.

Head-to-head record doesn't mean everything and considering both Nog and Mir were on the decline by the time they had the rematch I don't see how that's the best way to determine who is better.

The only things we can say for sure is that Mir beat Nog's booty twice and that Nog had the better career overall. Head-to-head is a very significant stat but it's not everything, especially when one of the fights very late in both of their careers (Mir's last great win and Nog has been struggling the last couple of years hanging with the elite of the division).

Mir was better in both of their fights but that doesn't mean Mir would have beat all the guys Nog beat, so it's hard to say he is straight up "better" than Nog

That's a bullshit comparison.

hallman vs hughes is more like serra vs GSP

Cause Hallman wasn't a multiple time UFC Champion with a laundry list of big names and legends on his resume.
Frank Mir has defeated:
Lesnar
Big Nog twice
Crocop
Sylvia
Nelson
Kongo

Hallman only ever defeated Hughes. The comparison is complete bullshit.

How so?

Hallman is more like Mir than Serra. Serra beat GSP once. Hallman beat Hughes twice. MIr beat Nog twice. Halmman had other nice wins in his career (Karo Parisyan for example)

Besides the Nog wins - Mir only has 2 other Top 10 wins in his career. Nelson (when he was ranked #10) and Big Tim

Mir has accomplished a lot in his career but he has lost to many unranked fighters and the majority of his 16 career wins were against less than average fighters.

Yes Mir beat Lesnar with help from a ref when Lesnar was not even Top 50 and was only 1-0 with a win over a can. When Lesnar got experience he destroyed Mir.

The Cro Cop that Mir beat was the same Cro Cop that Schaub beat. Cro Cop was like Liddell at the end of his career. Losing to guys that he shouldn't (Jardine for example) Not Mir's fault but Cro Cop was done at the time.

I don't see Mir beating Barnett at any stage of his career. Nog did.
I don't see Mir beating Sergei in 2004. Nog did.
I don't see Mir beating Werdum at any stage of his career. Nog did.
I don't see Mir beating Couture. Nog did.
I don't see Mir beating Cro Cop in his prime Nog did.

No one stays in their prime forever. Nog clearly isn't he fighter that he used to be but he is still hanging in there. He has been fighting since the 90's (how many other guys from the 90's are still around?) He has had an amazing career and has soon longevity that most fighters never do. He could lose his next 10 in a row and it doesn't take away what he accomplished

No matter what you type as a bandaid, Nog got r@p3d...

Twice...

By Mir...

The more you diss Mir, the worse your guy looks.

But hasn't nog had around 3 times as many fights?

It isn't a band aid. Nog never got raped by Freeman, Pe De Pano (in Cruz's) 2nd MMA fight, Vera, stomped on by Simms etc.

Every fighter if they fight long enough will lose.

Just because Chuck hung around too long and lost to Jardine doesn't mean he sucked

Just because Tito hung around too long and lost to Hamill doesn't mean he sucked.

Nog lost fair and square twice to Mir...yes. So what? Nog still had the better career.

Losing to Mir isn't a bad thing. He is a good fighter that always has a chance of winning.

Is Weidman Anderson better? Weidman beat Andersons ass twice and is a defending UFC champion with multiple top 10 wins. I guess anyone who thinks Mir is better overall than Nog has to also think Weidman is better than Anderson Silva who is a top 3 GOAT. I guess those people put Weidman ahead of that...

But hasn't nog had around 3 times as many fights?

ALERT: Logic presence. Evacuate immejiendly!

;)

Well put, sir.

Logic? So Nog was worn down because he has been fighting since the 90's and has many more fights than Mir. Of course that is logic.

Let's see how Mir is doing when he reaches 37 fights. (the amount Nog had when he 1st faced Mir) At this rate Mir will never reach 37 fights in his career.

Mir already has more losses than Nog and only 16 career wins.

Will Mir ever beat another Top 10 fighter in his career?

Doubt it. He isn't allowed to use TRT anymore and has lost 4 in a row despite being on TRT.

Mir had a good run and can still pull off a win here and there but I wouldn't be surprised if Mir ends his career with only 4 Top 10 wins in his entire career (like he has now) I don't see Mir lasting long enough to reach 45 MMA fights like Nog has.
