Minotauro has 3 TIMES more Top 10 Wins than Frank Mir

Nog is not UFC caliber (anymore). He had his moments, but the sport passed him by.

He clearly isn't the fighter he used to be (who is after such a long career) but he is still ranked Top 10. I wouldn't say the sport has passed him yet even though his career is winding down.

By this logic, Faber > Barao.

Nog got caught twice, he may be the more skilled fighter but Mir is just a tough match for him in my opinion, even though Nog was smacking him up in the rematch, he got a little reckless and was submitted. Mir got him at a great time, like someone else said. Nog has had the better career all-around, Mir is just that guy. Every great fighter has their nemesis.

I think Nog has had the better career overall but Mir has had the better UFC career.

Yes Nog by far had the better MMA career. Of course Mir had the better UFC career. Nog joined the UFC 10 years into his MMA career. Barely any MMA fighter stays elite for 10 years. Most have short shelf lives so it is amazing that Nog is still hanging around. Not many others from the 90's have.

The UFC now being mainstream and Mir beating Nog twice in devastating fashion is why people lean towards Mir.

Doesn't bother me either way how people see it. The fact that he is talked with Nog and compared to him is enough for me. Frank has always been my favorite HW. His recent string of 4 loses nearly killed me

I guess wins over guys like Barnett, Cro Cop (in his prime), Couture, Werdum, Sergei, Big Tim, Herring, Coleman etc mean nothing to you. He clearly has one of the best resumes in HW history

Oh', so when Nog beats Couture and Herring it's a big fucking deal. When Brock does it, it means jack shit.

Coleman....Sergei.....not top 10, sorry.

Look, Nog's a veteran with some success, but he's mostly known for getting the piss beaten out of him, and pulling off some fluke subs. He's never been the top dog, and Frank Mir owns him. Meh.

Totally different context. Hallman beat Hughes at the begining of his career. Nice try though.

Mir also beat Nog at the tail end of his career. Yes, he was still competitive but he moves nothing like did when he was in his prime at Pride.

Hughes was also a savage when the rematch happened so that was hardly at the beginning of his career.

Don't feel bad about him losing. It doesn't change what he has accomplished. He has had a good career. No one stays elite forever.

Wow. Is someone trying to say 22-1 Hughes was at the beginning of his career when Hallman beat him. Hughes was 22-1 at the time.

Coleman was Top 10 when Nog beat him in 2001. If someone beat Coleman today it wouldn't be a big deal. Are you slow? No offense but I feel kind of bad for you.

Sergei was also top 10 at the time and was a big threat to any HW. I would have picked Sergei over Mir back then and today.

It matters at what point of a fighter's career that he was beat. Beating Liddell (when Franklin did) would not be nearly as impressive if he beat him 3 years earlier for example.

Fighters have short shelf lives and don't stay on top forever.

Nog has never been Top dog? He was #1 until Fedor beat him. Mir has never been top dog. No shame in that. Mir had a really good career. Just not nearly as good as Nog's/

Yet you felt the need to bring Couture into the equation......

Fighters have short shelf lives and don't stay on top forever.

When was Nog ever on top? Those few weeks after he beat Tim for the *ahem*, "interim" HW Championship, and before Randy came back to defend the real one. Was that the time?

How about from Nov. 3 2001 until March 16 2003?

My God you are ignorant about MMA. Do you not know anything about MMA before Brock came on the scene?

Fedor was ranked #1 from 2003 until 2010 when Werdum beat him.

Before that Nog was ranked #1.

Mir was never ranked #1 in his career (no shame in that)

Fedor had the Number 1 spot locked up for years.

Nog should have gotten Couture before Brock but the UFC wanted to use Brock for PPV sells.

Couture was a fight removed from holding the belt. He was still relevant. He was ranked around #5 at HW (depending on the rankings)

If Nog got the shot instead of Brock he would have beat Couture then too. Instead Brock got Couture and then Couture's next fight was against Nog.

Also when I said that "fighters don't stay on top forever" I meant they don't stay at the top of their game forever. There have been plenty of great fighters that never reached #1 but they were still top fighters. Nog did reach number 1 though.

Oh' so being champion of a pro-wrestling organization is a big deal?

He was #1 between the Mark Coleman fight and the Fedor fight. This was never debateable, as Coleman was the man back then - beating Igor cemented him as #1 before Nog subbed him. Between the first Fedor fight and the first Mir fight he was always either #2 or #3.

Nog was either at the top or right there for a very long time, basically until his body started shutting down on him.

Are you talking about UFC champ Brock Lesnar....former WWE star?

Anyway, the UFC was the minor leagues back then when Pride and the UFC went head to head.

Pride had (at HW)

Werdum
Overeem (fought at LHW and HW)
Nog
Fedor
Hunt
Sergei
Cro Cop
Alexs
Barnett
Igor (fought at LHW and HW)

UFC had (at HW)

Couture (fought at LHW and HW)
Tim
Arlovski
Mir
Big Drop off......
Monson
Eilers

Many of the former Pride HWs are still in the Top 10.

5 of the current top 10 are former Pride HWs. That is amazing considering Pride shut down 7 years ago.

No UFC HWs from the same era are still in the Top 10
