Military Roll Call! Veterans, GTFIH!

Minot: Cold as shit in the winter. Huge ass mosquitos and flooding in the spring/summer.

"Need a reason for freezin'? Why not Minot?"

F.E. Warren in Cheyenne, Wyoming is the same way except without the flooding and mosquitos. A part of the safety brief as you in-process is...

"Ok kids trick or treat at the mall because if you do it at home, kids can get lost in the snow and die from exposure. Also, when you open your car door, do it with both hands because the wind gusts upwards of 50mph. It'll snap your door backwards."

It was a lovely sight to see that main gate in the rearview mirror for the last time.

Army. 11M.

I have "Article 15" tattooed on my ass and a 2014 Mustang I bought at 28% interest. THOT's hit my IG, soylords hit the gym.

MAGA is forever, like Wu-Tang.

Buddy that was Army won't stfu about how much he hated Fort Drum. You bring up his time in service and mention Drum he goes apeshit.

How do you guys feel when civilians use "disrespecting the Troops" and "but they were a Veteran!!!" to justify their political shit?

I lean right politically, but damnit if I don't want to slap some of my extended family and friends for assuming they speak on all our behalf... I won't even speak for all of us because I know damn well we're just as fucked up and varied on opinions as the rest of the population on a smaller scale..

Side Bar:
One of my younger cousins just joined the Fleet in the Navy made the mistake of posting "Well in my opinion, that I know is shared by most of the Navy..." on social media....being both a caring older family member and senior enlisted, I advised him to remove the post, without mentioning anything about being either....to which his wife (who I never met and knows nothing about me) and her friends decided to berate me about freedom of speech and how he was "protecting our freedom" and how dare I question...

It annoyed me 10 years ago....today's culture makes it even worse...

rant secured...carry on....
I don't like that but truth be told a lot of vets do it themselves. A lot of vets have a sense of entitlement in the US, the kind of people who will bring it up anytime something isn't going there way, similar to people who bring up the race card. They just want to sucker other people into giving them preferential treatment

I’ve never witnessed this before.

As someone who's worked in law enforcement and security I've seen it countless times. Trust me a lot vets when they find themselves in undesirable situations they will very quickly inform you of their military service. Shit like this basically

Then even if you inform them you were also in the military they'll still try to one up you, asking you where you deployed to, what you did etc, just so they can belittle your service. When I used to be a security guard after I got out, I was dealing with this irate older guy who was bitching about how he should be treated better since he was a vet, I told him I was a vet too and he proceeded to shit on me for working security like I was a failure or something. That has always stuck to me, because it made me realize the whole brotherhood thing is way over-exaggerated. Vets are people like everyone else, there's a lot of shitty ones. I mostly just keep it to myself and don't really bring up military stuff unless it's people I really know or someone asks me.

I'm a civilian (always have been) but this happened to me in a FB chat with some friends. Shit talking ensued as is expected. One guy is former 82nd. Other guy is just regular non-specialized in anyway Army (think he's an air traffic controller or something right now over in Germany) and according to the other guys I was getting the better of him then he pulled the "yeah well, when I talk about military service I don't have to talk about family cause I'm actually living it"

I almost lost my shit. It's akin to "thank me for my service now where's my free meal?" shtick on Veteran's Day.

Said friend that was 82nd has been pulled over more times than I know and never gotten a ticket. He brings up his service all the time when pulled over for speeding. Even our mutual friend that is a DOC guard gets fucking speeding tickets.

Vets sometimes make me uncomfortable. Especially the in your faces ones , been around the Military since I was a teen and been serving my entire adult life, at this point to just riding it to 20 so that I have some decent benefits that I can take to my next job. But so much of my feed is of my feed on FB are of the guys that did one and get out and expect a certain type of ass kissing for the public, it's sad because they are the guys that couldn't wait to get out.

Yeah it’s the shitbirds and people who hated being in that have all the moto stuff on their social media.

One guy posted a Meme about don't test the Vets because their savage side will comeback. Dude you were fat as fuck when you were in and you're fatter now , there is nothing savage about you.

Well, to be fair...it was the 82nd.

They are basically marines that eat fireworks instead of crayons.

Had another friend that was at Drum and Lewis. Couldn’t stand either for very different reasons
I can't imagine Lewis being that bad since it's in the Seattle area. Believe @Shaz has spent his entire career there.

Where Ft Lewis is located is the issue. It’s at least 45 minutes to downtown Seattle for shows and like the waterfront. The area immediately around the base is a military museum, Emerald Queen Casino (shit tier), and 900 car dealerships with 40% interest rates for privates to think as a good deal.

Still beats Drum. You're 5.5 hours away from NYC.

Guy I knew there liked the base.... he chose to live about 35-55 minutes from the base so he could do shit with people.
