Melvin Guillard Potentially Getting Cut?

Love or hate Melvin he is exciting win or lose. Cutting him would be a mistake. Put him back headlining prelims against good stylistic matchups and let him draw fans in.

Dana seemed very unsure when asked this recently. Personally, I think if the likes of Garcia and Hardy get kept despite multiple losses then so should Guillard.

Wouldn't exactly shed a tear if he got cut. I remember when he was on that win streak and all his fans were pissing and moaning about how he was top 10, how he should get the title shot, how we would destroy everyone in the division. Hahahaha. Honestly, I've always found Melvin to be completely lacking in class or respect - delusions of grandeur, trying to hit people after the bell, etc. - so his losing streak only seems appropriate.

The reason Melvin continues to remain in the UFC is the simple fact that his physical condition is so very top notch. Potential. If you have watched him from the beginning the simple fact of the matter is that he is not evolving AT ALL as a fighter. I can only imagine Dana saying wtf is this guys problem and why isn't he improving.

You know what I am going to allocate most of the blame here to his training camp, mentors and people around him who are not doing their job. Melvin needs to shake up his world, get new trainers find a new camp and someone who will actually give this kid training that will open up stand up combos and try to instill some killer instinct into this kid.

He has heart but just doesn't know what to do with it and becomes discouraged and seems to mentally break down when anyone stands toe to toe with him. You don't see many fighters like him to be honest because he seems to have a great physical work ethic but no one there to really show him how to become better on how to cut off the cage and pin a fighter then opening up with effect stand up salvos for a finish.

It's sad really but him being around after so many losses is only testament to the potential that those around him acknowledge. Images of Palhares come to me when I think of Melvin.

Melvin needs to come full circle in his life and move back to LA, and back to training with his first coach Joe Ancona. Melvin was a better fighter 7-8 yrs ago.....

I'd like to see him get cut. He's undisciplined and doesn't fight smart, and it doesn't make sense to keep him on if he's 1-4 in his last five while some fighters get cut after going 1-2. That said, they kept Dan Hardy after he went 0-4 in his last four, and Leonard Garcia after four years of him being Leonard Garcia. There's enough buzz over Guillard's explosiveness and punching power that they'll keep him on and hope he knocks someone out soon.

I honestly think he should have stayed at Jackson's. He says he likes The Blackzillians more, but he had much more success under Jackson.

If they won't Garcia they won't cut Guillard he is usually exciting.

Big difference is Garcia is a likeable HUMBLE guy...Melvin is an ego driven guy that says and does stupid things due to emotional outbursts...Garcia is a company guy...Melvin is a Melvin guy

He still has a few favorable match-ups left for him in the UFC - Gomi, Diego, KJ Noons (if they bring him over), etc.

It was a mistake for him to leave Jackson's. Melvin is an emotionally immature fighter with a bad attitude. He needs a firm hand to train him, not a bunch of people who are only interested in feeding his ego.

Bingo...we have a winner folks....this is exactly what is wrong with Melvin

Cutting him is the right decision. There are a lot better fighters out there with better attitudes especially in his weight-class. They also not replace him and the LW division wouldn't know the difference except it would be missing an easy win who took tantrums after losing.

He won't be cut, his fights are fun to watch, except for the Stephens one

It would actually be really cool to see him in Bellator. Fighting Chandler, Cupcake, Pitbull, maybe Alvarez - awesome

I don't see him being cut but he's one of the most overrated fighters in the ufc. Even during his 5 fight win streak he won some shady decisions againsts some brazillian fighters.

It's seems not too long ago he was considered a huge top contender in the division and won 5 straight. I remember before the Lauzon fight he was gigantic favorite in the betting odds.

G Sots was another guy who had a big streak going, 7 fights, I think. A lot of people were expecting him to get a title shot, but now that is completely out of the question.

I don't think Melvin should be cut yet. He should get one more fight; he's been fighting some very good competition when he's been losing. The 4 guys he lost to in his last 5 are Lauzon, Miller, Cerrone, and Varner. Gotta admit, those are some tough fights.
