Clear Care HMO and PPO Medicare Advantage Part D Drug FormularyThis formulary is a list of drugs selected by Group Health Cooperative and Group Health Options, Inc.—and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)—that are covered by Group Health's Clear Care prescription drug plans. Based on consultation with a team of health care providers, these prescription therapies are believed to be a necessary part of a quality treatment program.

•When your 2014 Part D coverage begins, up until you have reached $2,850 in covered Part D drug costs, payment will be based on four different levels of coverage for all drugs listed on our Part D Clear Care formulary. The first level is for preferred generic drugs, the second level is for nonpreferred generic drugs, the third level is for preferred brand name drugs, and the fourth level is for non-preferred brand name drugs.
•Medicare will no longer cover erectile dysfunction (ED) drugs like Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, and Caverject.

I'm as sympathetic to transexual issues as it gets, but is this really a medical condition or want that modern science can fix?
 
I was hoping that this thread would improve after reading the first page of responses. Sadly, it just seemed to get stupider and shittier from there on.

I will say that, while the WR community has its fair share of political blind spots, this topic is the most glaring example of one the community has absolutely no knowledge about.

Sex change operations are just enabling the mental sickness. They need mental help and counseling getting to the root cause of the problem of why a guy is convinced he is really a woman inside. There are likely abuse/neglect issues (by the boys father) that they never dealt with from childhood. The fact that these young boys didn't learn to have other friends who were boys. And mom and older sisters that have an impossible task of teaching a young boy how to be a boy and eventually a man.

The people you're advocating that they should go see to get that counseling apparently disagree with you about this being legitimate.

Not all of them. Probably hard to find them though. They made this illegal in California I believe.
 
Am I allowed to disagree with this without going on a long rant about how either our society is decaying or that gays are icky and evil? Or should I just stay silent and let the good ol' boys continue with their opinion?
 
Given the likely exorbitant cost of individual cases, it's not ideal that these procedures will be subsidised by the government.

However, very few people in this thread have demonstrated an even somewhat developed understanding of transgenderism. No surprise from the likes of PainIsLife. But of course, like gay people and their sexual orientation, transgender people just decide on a whim to have sex reassignment surgery for a bit of fun. It's fashionable. Lol.

There's a lot of shit covered by public insurance that isn't ideal, too, and at much greater cst. No surprise the dimwit's emotional distaste for transgenderism would make this such a huge issue.

It's covered almost everywhere in Canada, but only after counseling and official diagnosis of GID. I don't know if all of the HRT medications are covered, but the procedure itself is.

I don't profess to be an expert on the subject. I know that the qualified people who have invested a great deal of time and resources into understanding transgenderism and reassignment procedures consider them to be of legitimate medical concern. And I know that, as with homosexuality, the prevalence of individuals who flippantly choose to be gender confused or are influenced by transgender propaganda (lol) is so statistically negligible as to be almost completely irrelevant to the discussion.

That's really all you need to know in order to avoid making kneejerk emotional arguments against something like this. Many of the people in this thread - most notably glennrod (with whom I'm astonished to live under the same flag) - seem to celebrate their ignorance on the topic and prefer to fall back on their 'IT'S NOT NORMAL' gut response. If I have no clue whatsoever about something then I don't wade into discussions shitting out my nonsense, uncultivated value judgement of it. I learn about it and listen to people who know what they're talking about. It continues to amaze me that so many are almost proud they don't do the same.

Its not fucking normal to want to be another sex than what you are born. You have mental issue if you do. You need drugs and therapy. You dont need my tax money to have your shit cut in half and tucked into a vagina. Even after that, you still arent a real women either.

I am open to anything that will point me in a direction that states if trannys dont have their surgery they will be in serious medical trouble. Where is it? I asked and you didnt provide. Typical lefty attack on those who dont agree with the homosexual agenda.
