International Measles Resurgence in America (2025)

Some of us want to protect kids from vaccine injury, such as seizures (mmr leads to about 5000 seizures per year in US alone) and who knows what other harms considering long term safety of the mmr has been deemed “largely inadequate” by independent review.

And you don't want to protect them from injuries from Measles, Mumps and Rubella? Which include:

Death
Encephalitis
Pneumonia
Deafness
Meningitis
Sterilization
Birth Defects

The anti-vaccination movement

The anti-vaccination movement has a long history, beginning in France in 1763 and continuing through to today. As with all hot-button issues, it’s important to have accurate information and listen to both sides of the story. In the below infographic, developed by Mark Kirkpatrick, a freelance health journalist and dietitian, we discuss the reasoning and history behind the anti-vaccination movement. In the early days of immunization, distrust in vaccines was well-warranted. There was no official quarantine procedure for those who’d already been inoculated and 18th Century doctors didn’t have quite the same standards as us when it came to sanitation and disease prevention. But as you can see, medical knowledge and standards have progressed greatly since those times and today’s vaccinations are a safe and effective tool in battling global health issues such as measles and rubella.

More than just a timeline of anti-vaccination movements, this infographic also includes useful information about vaccination itself, some of which might very well surprise you. For example: did you know that the first immunizations were administered in China in the 10th Century BCE? Or that the famed French philosopher Voltaire argued strongly for immunizations?

Brazil, the New Stronghold of the Antivax Movement

Chloé Pinheiro

Despite its long and proud vaccination history, Brazil is one of the 10 countries in the world with most children unprotected against measles, and COVID-19 vaccines are not widely available for younger children.

In this project, journalist Chloé Pinheiro and her team explore the root causes of this serious threat to Brazil's public health system, in particular the systematic actions of then-President Jair Bolsonaro's government against vaccines, and the misinformation campaign promoted by doctors and politicians.

The story will be told with a multimedia approach, with three main pieces in different outlets: first, a printed and online story for Veja Saúde, the leading health magazine in Brazil, focused on the National Immunization Program and how it has been destroyed, visiting cities with the poorest and the highest vaccination rates and interviewing families. This story will be documented with the support of a videographer.

Then, the team will produce an online data-supported story for Núcleo Jornalismo about vaccine misinformation on social media. The team will look at how the main spreaders of misinformation are dodging YouTube’s algorithm. As a complement to that, an episode on the Ciência Suja podcast will investigate the people behind these channels: How are they profiting? What are the interests behind spreading misinformation?

Finally, the project will discuss the global implications of this situation: Could Brazil's bad example serve as a warning to the rest of the world?

These whacked out chuds continually use the effectiveness of vaccines as proof we don't really need them. It's interesting, to say the least. And extraordinarily entitled
Thats weird because I thought people were using the graphs to point out that there are still small, regular outbreaks every single year, just like this year and last year.

we have a country where there's hundreds of millions and they're catching a disease that's treatable, stop the presses.

LOL

Also, that chart isn't a rebuttal to the claim that recent outbreaks are due to anti-vaxxers.

It's a fact.

The current outbreak is in a Mennonite community where most people aren't vaxxed, and the last few were in Hasadic communities in NY where very few people are vaxxed.

The more that lunatics like Rogan and RFK propagandize people about the measles vaccines supposedly being ineffective and dangerous, the bigger the problem this will be.

Measles was declared eradicated from the U.S. 25 years ago, but a child is dead and we have to deal with an outbreak because of stupid, low information, conspiracy-theory-addled antivaxxers. Absolutely shameful. Embarrassing.

Funny enough, the only low information folks are lock-step vaccine zealots who simply spam and parrot establishment talking points and appeals to emotion.

Most of y’all don’t know that vaccine makers were granted immunity from lawsuits due to losing so many lawsuits when their product hurt people.

Most of y’all don’t know there are numerous recognized vaccine injuries paid out by the vaccine court (even for injuries “characteristic of autism” GASP!) to the tune of billions since the 90’s, despite the fact that this system is highly flawed and delays cases for years… or that VAERS (which was established after vaccine makers were granted immunity) captures only a small fraction of actual vaccine injuries post licensure.

My favorite is how you bleat incessantly about “trusting the science,” but then ignore high quality independent review of the MMR (one of the most studied vaccines in history) that describes safety research to be “largely inadequate.”

I also get a chuckle out of the idiots who a second ago didn’t know that multiple vaccines cause seizures and an increased risk of epilepsy, but who then hand wave thousands of vaccine related seizures and hundreds of associated epilepsy cases per year in the US alone.

Stop projecting, your best bet is to keep spamming BS talking points and keeping people scared and ignorant, because folks who actually dive a bit deeper into the subject almost always end up flipping.

You keep citing “independent” studies. You got any links?

I thought after Biden won and Trump was defeated combined with China's economy getting decimated by covid that we were on the right track. Feels like everything has completely flipped and I no longer have faith in the USA as a world leader. Too many idiots leading this nation down the wrong path. RFK Jr. clearly doesn't give a shit. There will probably be more deaths.
