Crime US attorney in NY and 5 others quit after told to drop Eric Adams case

Lol@MAGA applauding the dropping of a case against a corrupt Democrat.

Seems like turkey likes democrats

I'm not giving a pass at all. I'm calling a spade a spade. This shit happens all the time. It's how local city politics are run - Bloomberg, De Blasio, Adams. All these mofos are corrupt.

De Blasio used his NYPD security detail to shuttle his son back-and-forth to college and move his daughter out of her apartment. He doled out business favors to real estate developers who contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaign and causes.

Bloomberg was a part of the CityTime scandal (Google it.) It was a city contract to design a payroll system that would precisely track the hours worked by city employees. A defense contractor named Scientific Applications got a no bid contract and the cost ballooned to 700 milion - 600 of which a judge said was tainted. It led to the conviction of three contractors for bilking the city. Unions had rallied against the system but Bloomberg championed it to the end.

In comparison to that, Eric Adams getting airline tickets is small potatoes. Shit like this happens constantly in local politics.

Talking about New York City but ok.
Three contractors were convicted but not Bloomberg? Are you contending they had the same evidence against him but declined to prosecute? And again I don't believe all politicians are corrupt and to make that claim is just an excuse.

You must have a short memory.

They couldn't pin him with a smoking gun, but he presided over a no bid contract that had graft in the hundreds of millions.

Bloomberg LP was also caught in a massive scandal as it censored any stories critical of China because Bloomberg had massive investments there.

Top Bloomberg LP executives (more than a dozen) in their global construction and facilities department, were convicted of fraud, theft and bribery charges in a pay to play scheme in the city.

He also somehow served three terms - completely circumventing term limits.

And again I don't believe all politicians are corrupt and to make that claim is just an excuse.

All politicians are not corrupt? Are you kidding me? That is literally the name of the game.

I'm not bidding you, and the third term was inexcusable in my opinion. The State Legislature voted for it so that's how that happened. Much like Trump has a majority vote in this current Congress. If they didn't have a smoking gun against Bloomberg but have one against Adams then how are they similar issues?

My point is all these politicians do dirt and whether someone is officially charged or not is all based on politics - what political enemies or alliances one has made.

For example, New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer was going hard against Wall Street a few years back and his political enemies went after him hard. Trying to find any and all dirt on him. They finally got him on soliciting prostitutes.

Because this is the first time in modern history, corruption and bribery charges were brought against a sitting mayor.

What he did is everyday garden variety corruption that happens all the time. He (allegedly) sped up the Fire Department approval of a new 36-story Turkish consulate in Midtown Manhattan.

In exchange, he got flight upgrades and plane tickets through Turkish Airlines. This kind of quid pro quo happens ALL the time with every local politician.
He received more than a 100k in gifts. He also submitted false disclosure statements to the New York City Campaign Finance Board. A January 7 court filing said the FBI has uncovered "additional criminal conduct" by New York City Mayor Eric Adams. He's corrupt and wants to paint himself as a victim. It's unfortunate so many people (mainly Republicans) are believing his lies.

He wasn't a target because of his views on immigration. It takes months to build a case. The FBI seized his electronic devices in November of 2023. He had not spoken harshly about the immigration problem at that point.

I'm not saying he is not guilty of this corruption. He probably is. Just saying he was probably targeted for political reasons.

The charges were pretty flimsy. Former Mayor Bill DeBlasio thinks that and said the charges should have never been brought.

Texas bussed in all the immigrants in August 2022. Eric Adams initially welcomed them, but quickly changed his tune when it started a flood and the city couldn't afford it and kept complaining to the Feds.

Him speaking about the immigration problem started way before Nov 2023.

Flimsy?

I posted this on the very fist page of this thread:

What exactly did he do? A lot of shit over the course of about 10 years it seems.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams Charged With Bribery And Campaign Finance Offenses

The worst of it being:

In September 2021, the Turkish Official told ADAMS that it was his turn to repay the Turkish Official, by pressuring the New York City Fire Department (“FDNY”) to facilitate the opening of a new Turkish consular building—a 36-story skyscraper—without a fire inspection, in time for a high-profile visit by Turkey’s president. At the time, the building would have failed an FDNY inspection. In exchange for free travel and other travel-related bribes in 2021 and 2022 arranged by the Turkish Official, ADAMS did as instructed. Because of ADAMS’s pressure on the FDNY, the FDNY official responsible for the FDNY’s assessment of the skyscraper’s fire safety was told that he would lose his job if he failed to acquiesce, and, after ADAMS intervened, the skyscraper opened as requested by the Turkish Official.

It's not like these were ticky tack charges:

ADAMS, 64, of Brooklyn, New York, is charged with one count of conspiracy to receive campaign contributions from foreign nationals and commit wire fraud and bribery, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison; one count of wire fraud, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; two counts of soliciting campaign contributions from foreign nationals, which each carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison; and one count of soliciting and accepting a bribe, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

So you think 7 career prosecutors, including Danielle Sassoon, a Trump appointee, would just up and resign instead of signing off on dropping these charges if they were "flimsy"?

Ughh yea none of that is actually proven. But as I said, he's probably guilty.

De Blasio was saying the plan to go to trial just two months before the city's crucial Democratic primary was irresponsible and suspect. And that there isn't that much actual evidence.

Regardless, that's not my main point. I'm saying he's probably guilty, but I think it's politically motivated to go after him.

However you want to brush this off is on you.

I've pointed out EXACTLY why these people have made the decision to sacrifice their careers in this case.

You are an idiot if you believe everything you posted here.

You are a smart cat. You can't see this?

Don't both-sides this. It's not the same.

And why would that be? The vast majority of the corruption by our politicians are not prosecuted. It's usually when they've made political enemies that they go after you.

New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was in power for decades (since 1977) and literally everyone knew he was corrupt. This mofo was one of the most powerful politicians in the state. He only got charged in 2015.

NJ governor Chris Christie was also a corrupt fuck his entire tenure. Never got indicted but his aides did. He blamed it all on them when literally everyone knew he did quid pro quo dirty shit.

You do realize the entire Congress does insider trading right? And that is highly illegal. Why aren't they ever investigated or prosecuted? They have power.

You don't seem to understand how politics work with all these dirty fucks. It's all about power and corruption.

What the fuck is your problem? He is dirty. Twisting in a pretzel to make him on your side?

Yea, EVERYONE commits crimes worthy of decades in prison. Therefore, this guy's prosecution must have been politically motivated because he slightly criticized the President over immigration. And oh yeah, a conservative federal prosecutor with a spotless record resigned and sacrificed her career over being told to drop the case, so she was definitely in on it.

Your argument in a nutshell. It's laughably stupid.

Yes it's my opinion that this is politically motivated. You're free to disagree.

There’s always two sides to every story

Adam’s refused to play ball with Biden and his mass “asylum” invasion

Are his charges legit? Maybe.

Did Biden use the DOJ as his personal hit team?

I don’t believe any of them anymore

Has anyone ever decided to look into Pelosi’s amazing stock portfolio and it always seems to know when to buy/sell a few days in advance?

I mean, Martha Stewart actually got prison time for something far less in scope in terms of money.

They’re all dirty. Adams just pissed off his own team and got punished
