Stuff from today
"The first witness this morning is paramedic Neil Dempsey from Dublin Fire Brigade.
He describes going to a house in Drimnagh in Dublin, on 10 December 2018 at around 8.41am.
He said the woman was very distressed and had physical marks on her. The woman said she had been sexually assaulted. And she was concerned about a tampon she had inside her, which had been there for some time.
He describes that her heart rate was elevated. And he says she was told they would be taking her by ambulance to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in the Rotunda Hospital
She had some nature of a panic attack on the way to hospital, he says.
They arrived at the hospital at 9.20am
Footage from the ambulance journey is now being played to the jury."
"
Nikita Hand leaves court as the footage showing her inside the ambulance on the morning of 10 December 2018 is shown.
The footage shows Ms Hand in pyjamas lying down on a trolley in the ambulance. A blood pressure monitor is placed on her.
The jury can also see Ms Hand and paramedic Eithne Scully pulling down her pyjama bottoms to examine her lower limbs.
Bruising can be clearly seen on her thighs as Senior Counsel, Ray Boland for Ms Hand, points out.
A garda also enters the ambulance while Ms Hand is lying on the trolley as well as Ms Hand's mother, Debbie.
The footage also shows Ms Hand getting more distressed on the way to the hospital and having a panic attack. She sits up and is comforted by her mother and paramedic, Neil Dempsey.
She was mainly worried about the tampon inside her, Mr Dempsey says, and the pain that she had "down in that area"."
"
The court now hearing from paramedic, Eithne Scully. She describes Ms Hand as very withdrawn, agitated and upset.
She says Ms Hand's chief concern was about a tampon that had been pushed up way too far. Ms Scully says Ms Hand had a small cut on her chin and she saw some bruising around her lower neck.
She says when she examined Ms Hand she saw she had bruising around her chest, around her neck down to her legs.
She says she hadn't seen someone so bruised in a long time.
She agrees she has been to many call outs but hadn't seen anyone so intensely with that amount of bruises.
She says Ms Hand told her she had been grabbed around the neck, there was something about fighting someone off and there was a threat made to her."
