If I had the choice between Marine Corps commercials, and seeing the same Blue Mountain High commercial 14 times during an event. Or Corn Nuts. Or Assassin's Creed. Or whatever other hype-of-the-week is feeding the UFC their money.
I'd choose the Marines.
I'm worried about this. I wonder if they will still show the UFC on the Armed forces channel. That was one of the biggest reasons why I liked the UFC as far as what they do for the military. Considering all of the ppv's were free to watch on the network for soldiers deployed.
I just got out of the Marine Corps (I go off active duty tomorrow), and I honestly don't get that article. I know a lot of Marines that love MMA, but none of them watched because of the USMC sponsorship. Most of them made jokes at the commercials with the "elite war fighter meets elite cage fighter."
Especially when the average NFL player lives to be 50 (and they play on average 2.5 years in the NFL), the average NCAA player lives to be about 60-70 (depending on the level of play), which is clearly younger than the average U.S. male lives (72 or 73).people like to be in control and exert influence... who knows what benefits they get - it could be as simple as some of the union leaders personally hate mma... its a fucking joke that some people bitch about it being too violent then go watch hockey or the NFL
Seriously, that mob boxing union is freaking stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if their next action was to violently attack some UFC-related people. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they threatened sponsors right now (although not the Marines, because they'd kick their butts).Wow, they were actually swayed by the Culinary Union. I am disappoint, Marines.
Hopefully someone catches their illegal business activities... including this one.that culinary mafia crap has gone too far already.
Sir I believe you are wrong, because in a video game, though you may die, there is no consequence for dying, you respawn and kill again, death is not a deterrent. You are rewarded for killing, and death is glorified by your high score.
I know what you're saying though, a pacifist probably isn't going to up and join the Forces because he played Call of Duty a couple times, there has to be a previous desire (or sociopathic tendency, desperation due to living conditions or something else like a patriotic desire) that may be further fueled by the propaganda, but it's still propaganda.
If you've seen the ads where they show a futuristic soldier in a nighttime special op, which is clearly portrayed in a video game style, and then they seamlessly blend into a present day marine on an op, you should know what I mean. This is clearly done to force an association between the thrill of killing, excitement of playing with guns and toys, etc, to being a Marine.
I've always had a great handle on my alcohol. It's one of my few shining qualities...
But the number of alcoholics in the marine corps, and probably in the other branches, is staggering. My roommate at MOS school in Camp Johnson used to do shots of discount liquor before PT in the morning. Craziest thing I've ever seen...
They have a right to keep unions out by employing people. There's not a Nevada or Las Vegas law that forces you to hire union workers.its not like the fertittas can disallow unions - every workplace has a right to unionize, do you know how they are able to keep unions out?
Agreed. I'll take that cheesy "elite" line over most UFC programming commercials any day! XDIf I had the choice between Marine Corps commercials, and seeing the same Blue Mountain High commercial 14 times during an event. Or Corn Nuts. Or Assassin's Creed. Or whatever other hype-of-the-week is feeding the UFC their money.
I'd choose the Marines.
Maybe they gave the Secretary of the Marines and/or Defense a good-looking mistress, instead of the one General Petraus had.Since Zuffa owners, the Ferttita brothers, own casinos that aren't unionized, they've been targets of the Culinary Union. Basically, if you're a company without unionized workers in an industry that has unionized workers, to them, you're taking money away from the union. And they'll use any means they can to get their way.
And unfortunately, unions have sway when it comes to politicians. I'm guessing they got to the Secretary of the Marines or Defense for this to happen.
that makes sense, but then i guess ultimately the problem is still there - as you described, you left for more money
so you would think ujnions would coordinate and tell people to get the casino to stop wasting money on employee training and to get more money in the pockets of the employees
Extortion is commonly used by the powerful and rich to force their will on everyone else. Seeing as how most 1st world governments help, protect, and build around the rich who donate to our fraudulent politicians more than any other group of people, this should come as no surprise.simply, the owners of the UFC also own the largest non union casino in vegas, so the culinary union puts pressure on people involved/support the UFC.
they hope by putting pressure on the UFC, the fertitas (owner of UFC) will finally give up and allow unions into the casino.
basically extortion.
You still will, it just will be other annoying ads instead. Expect MetroPCS commercials more. :wink:Good, now I don't have to listen to all their cringe worthy nonsense while I'm watching the fights.
