Marine Corps taking a hit for ending deal with UFC

Wow, they were actually swayed by the Culinary Union. I am disappoint, Marines.
 
Basically Union bitching, typical.

But as a libertarian, i'm not into military macho bullshit anyway.
 
I really need to figure out the role of labor unions in the US... In Brazil some of them are very strong, but they only give a shit about stuff that directly affects workers. I don`t really get why those unions are concerned about the UFC, rape jokes or whatever. Can someone enlighten me?

A branch of the military that is known for producing ruthless killers doesn't want to be associated with the image the UFC presents? lol oh man.... maybe marines can all get subscriptions to martha stewart living instead

unions in america started that way but theyre very powerful politically now and they like to throw their weight around, as anyone with power does

Uh, MMA fans are some of the most diverse in the US of A. And dare I say, it hits their target demo perfectly.

Foolish, foolish, move. Hopefully who was ever in charge of this decision does not lead our boys into war or make any other tactical decisions.

OK, but why do they give a shit? Are they getting money from whoever the US Army hires next? If that`s the case, it makes sense. Otherwise it just seems like a waste of effort.

simply, the owners of the UFC also own the largest non union casino in vegas, so the culinary union puts pressure on people involved/support the UFC.

they hope by putting pressure on the UFC, the fertitas (owner of UFC) will finally give up and allow unions into the casino.

basically extortion.

it's all about money. politics, too, but even that's all about money. unions started off as a good thing, but now they are petty, sometimes violent, groups of people who feel entitled to more than the security and protection that they were supposed to get. they use strong-arming tactics against their own employers, as well as competition.

this culinary union is at odds with the fertitas, who own the ufc. theyre using these smear tactics (there are a shitload of examples of it too) against the fertitas, because they own some casinos that dont deal with the culinary union (cant imagine why). they employ their own workers, and these union people feel that they should work wherever the fuck they want, regardless of what the owners say
 
what do they mean by diverse? MMA fans are a diverse group imo. Plus the military is already pretty diverse.

people like to be in control and exert influence... who knows what benefits they get - it could be as simple as some of the union leaders personally hate mma... its a fucking joke that some people bitch about it being too violent then go watch hockey or the NFL

You are not really understanding. It would be politically incorrect for the Marine Corps to state the real reason they are dropping the UFC. The bottom line is that with the economy in the dumps and military funding getting cut, there are less positions to fill and more people applying for the positions. Thus the recruiters have it easier these days, and advertising budgets can be slashed as part of the overall cuts. But the Marines can't very well just come out and say, "Thanks to the shitty economy business is booming for our recruiters."

the owners of the ufc (the fertita brothers) also own hotels in las vegas that the labor union (culinary in this case) are intersted in directly. killing ufc sponsors is just a ploy to hurt the fertitas bottom line and make them play ball. unfortunattley for the culinary union the fertitas are super loaded and could probably care less tbh.
 
That video isn't pretty, but it could be worse, they definitely missed some stuff.

Oh no, I get it - my point is that this is ALL bullshit, including the underlying reasons and the fake one. I'm just calling them out on their fake one.

the marines arent diverse, but they shouldnt be... they do a lot of the military's dirty work
