People are really over analyzing the abstract of QM in trying to relate to quantum computing. Some principles in QM can be applied to QC but not on a random metaphysical level; but, an actual practical and tangible one.
For example, take this Maze
Right now, if we used computing methodologies we would send a bit to each possible route, one at a time to find the end. We can do those extremely quick, because processing power is fast. Under QC, we use the QM concept of superposition -- meaning instead of checking one route at time, we check all of them at once (exponentially increasing solving time)
Beyond that, we could use bits to tunnel through barriers (quantum tunneling) to just by pass obstacles (this is a bit more complex and an area that is yet to be proven on a computing level -- but theoretically possible). So the the challenge of the maze is rendered null as now we can bypass walls.
The third main concept is entanglement - this is when one object learns something new, every other connect object learn it as well, without the need to rewrite code. This is a key component for Strong AI.
