the Sun does this every second and so do computers.
How do u mean?

ah, yes. eternal recurrence. fascinating. it's what Nietzsche called amor fati, acceptance of one's fate as having a necessary occurence, and recurrence, and therefore acceptable regardless of it's nature.I believe that time is a circular thing. What I did 5 minutes ago is being done again, and so on and so on.

Anything comprehensive I can read on this? Sounds to me like it's just a fun thing they like to say but when you break it down it's nothing of the sort. They make it sound is like they're creating energy.
Tell me about it. We have had one guy ramble on and on about how he's a prophet (but wants to maintain his anonymity), at least a few conspiracy theorists, and a few trolls along the way. Unfortunately, this is why we can't have nice things...Well this thread really went to shit. Talking about the bible instead of quantum computing.

Make practical use of Quantum Mechanics.
Yeah, i mean how does the sun and modern computers make use of qm? Do u mean like particles in the sun using quantum tunneling?
Not related other than gore.
I'm not mad at this post.So basically you proselytize. For free no less. How very gracious and generous of you.
Putting aside all of the prognostications about whether we will be better off or worse off as we explore this area, what are we really talking about here???? Lets distill this thing down to it's lowest common denominator. Once we do that, the argument becomes a simpler one.
At the end of the day, what we are doing is trying to gain knowledge. We are trying to understand things we currently do not. We are trying to learn and evolve. IMO, we should never shy away from trying to gain knowledge, learn and evolve. And wherever that quest takes us, we should be willing to go. And whatever consequence comes as a result, we should be willing to pay.
It does not surprise me that someone of faith is against this pursuit. And it does not surprise me that they would surmise that this vast increase in knowledge would be used for the purpose of total control, as you mentioned below.
This lamentable train of thought has no basis in reality. But many believe it because it goes AAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL the way back to the very beginning of the Bible. Even according to the Bible, the only reason we know jackety shit is because Adam and Even sinned. God did not want us to have all the knowledge or pursue all the knowledge.
Now, let's bring this forward from basically that moment through the present day. And lets look at AAAAALLLLLLLL the people, governments and entities through all of human history that have tried to exert control on others. Principally, how have they done it? Have they done it by encouraging and enabling people to seek knowledge and understanding? Or have they done it by limiting their ability to seek knowledge?
The less people know, the more they can be controlled.
And this is not just true when it comes to one person trying to control another. It is just as true when it comes to the environment, the world, or the universe controlling us. There was a time, before fire, the wheel, and written language, that the world itself had much more control over men than it does today.
Never, EVER let someone convince you that the seeking of new knowledge is bad. The second we quit seeking new knowledge is the second our species starts to die.
Quit making up lies. Show where I state I am a prophet itt.Tell me about it. We have had one guy ramble on and on about how he's a prophet (but wants to maintain his anonymity), at least a few conspiracy theorists, and a few trolls along the way. But all you guys are missing it. I am not against technology or moving forward. I simply explain that it is going to lead to ruin. That's all.
Don't shoot the messenger who is currently typing on his tablet <45>
Yes a lack of wisdom and then understanding/integrity.It may end up leading us to ruin. Or it could save us from ruin. We are tinkering around with a lot of other things that could lead to our ruination besides computers. One of man's great follies is that we make very poor use of the knowledge we already have.
Time travel? On D-Waves wikipedia page it says this:In May 2011 he said that he was "retiring as Chief D-wave Skeptic",[54] and reporting his "skeptical but positive" views based on a visit to D-Wave in February 2012.
This was VERY interesting and worth a watch. Geordie Rose is the co-founder of D-Wave systems and has worked as their Chief Technical Officer since 06. D-Wave systems is the first company in the world to sell quantum computers. Here he explains a bit about how they work and what they will be used for, and it's scary.
Cliffs:
- yes, he actually does talk at length about how they exploit information from parallel universes (those are what he calls it anyway. maybe it's really quantum entanglement or something else, idk. But those are his words).
- he even puts up a quote from David Deusch (whoever that is) saying "Quantum computation will be the first technology that allows useful tasks to be performed in collaboration between parallel universes."
- D Wave Systems already has 2 quantum computers up and running. One is at UC Southern California, NASA has the other one.
- He describes the appearance of the quantum computers as big, black monoliths (scary). Also says when standing next to one, they give off an audible pulse about every second that sounds eerily like a heartbeat and it feels like standing next to "an alter to an alien God." (wtf is this man just evil or what?!)
![]()
- The quantum computers have an internal temperature of a fraction of a degree just above absolute zero (hundreds of times colder than interstellar space)
- he is super excited about using quantum computers to create AI and making machines that can outperform humans at literally anything (wtf is WRONG with this dude?!)
- says the shadows of the parallel worlds overlap with ours and if we're smart enough we can dive into them and grab their resources and bring them back into ours (again, his words). Reasserts that this is actually how these things work.
- he makes 3 predictions for the future:
1. In the next 5 years NASA will discover an Earth-like planet and serious ppl will start discussing how we get there, and that they'll use D-Wave's machines to figure it out. (Idk what year this talk was, but it was uploaded to YT in 2015. NASA discovered 7 Earth-like planets a month or two ago. So I guess he was right about that one).
2. By 2023, a major breakthrough in physics will occur based on a model whose cornerstone is in the reality of parallel universes; an experiment will be performed on a quantum computer that will support the new theory.
3. By 2028, intelligent machines will exist that can do anything humans can do; quantum computers will have played a critical role in the creation of this new type of intelligence.
tl;dr version:
This asshole is Miles Bennett Dyson and D-Wave Systems is Cyberdine Systems..... only scarier. Seriously watch the video (I know it's 20 mins but it's interesting and goes by quick). Just listen to the creepy way he talks about this shit and some of the words he uses (alter to an alien god? exploiting parallel universes?) And the only time he expresses excitement is when talking about making machines that are better at everything than people are.
This company seems to be doing some very wrong shit.
