Goals & Gains MAGA - Make Awesome Gains Again!

BJJ.

Turns out, when I face-planted last week, I strained the tendons in my neck. Still very tender and stiff today, so I took things easier than normal.

Today's class was based around variations of Omoplata, how to counter it and how to counter the opponent's counter. I freely admit, I felt out of my depth, and only managed - with a lot of help from my training partners - to figure out the first couple of variants.

Damn I wish! Weird to see I stickied post of mine on the top of the forum. Having flashbacks. You been good?

Swings and roundabouts: I was diagnosed with cancer in '22. I beat it, thank God, but it took a lot out of me. I'm still trying to rebuild my strength.

How have you been?

We started with Self-Defence techniques; takedowns from standing and simulated strikes on the ground. The striking was very light, just open hand, and not Bas Rutten-style palm smashes. The strikes were used to make our opponent turn into a position that allowed us to finish with a Gift Wrap.

Later, we trained Kimura from Half-Guard.

Rolling. Three rounds. I'm still rehabbing the shoulder injury I picked up a couple of weeks ago, so I Tapped early and often to protect it.
