Goals & Gains Lug's Spear: Unleashed S&P

Yesterday was pretty phenomenal. Everything felt easy, and ready for progression. I'm in love with pressing, which is saying a lot, because I used to hate it.

Running
-3 miles @ 27:15 pace. Legs feeling slightly sore from front squating two days in a row.

I think I'll be at that same point after I lose this BW Press race to Big John and then start pressing like a mad man to get rid of the sig or whatever it was that's on the line

-Alright, starting to think I'm doin the shoulder blade pinch thing right. I felt pretty good, but my last rep took a little more effort than the rest.

Sledge Hammer Levering
-I keep forgetting to do these. I need to get back to doing them regularly.

Notes: My body is worthless right now. Doing 97% of my 1RM for 4 heavy singles yesterday has left me moving around like an old man. I also grappled with my friend who is an amateur fighter for an hour and a half working on escaping scarfhold position and trying to maintain/submit from the back. I need an ice bath or something.

^nice bench and deads! Specially the volume on the bench.

You lift at an oly gym right? Do you get stink eyes when you do PL lifts?

Thanks! I thought the volume would be a good idea if I am trying to learn a new technique so I went back to the 5x5 rep scheme. Well the thing is the guy who owns the place doesn't like it when you do PL stuff if you train there for oly. So instead of getting the stink eye I lift at my on campus gym which is free when I want to do powerlifting. You are right though, they think benching is completely worthless and deadlifting takes too much time to recover from for oly training.

Running
-2 miles @ 20min pace. Ran these on my toes, my friend suggested that landing on my heel might be contributing to my knee injury. I have been feeling like crap these past few days, but hopefully I can get some lifting done tomorrow.

Indoor Rock Climbing
-1 hour, it was pretty fun, but I managed to tear two callouses on my left hand and cut one of my fingers on my right hand. Hopefully it won't interfere with lifting.

Hey dude, nice to see you're climbing a bit! It does fuck up your callouses but I doubt it would intefere with your lifting (besides messing up your hands a bit). At least I have never noticed any changes. Do you use chalk when you climb? And where are you from again? I forget...

Yeah I like climbing even though I have only done it 3 or 4 times so far. I'm hoping to do some in Ireland when I'm studying abroad this summer (20 days to go!). I did use a lot of chalk when I was climbing today. I was under the impression that should lessen the chances of my callouses ripping? I'm from Georgia, dunno what the climbing is like around here.

Ohh yeah that's cool! That's exciting about Ireland!

I always use chalk and my hands still get fucked up but I slip a lot less preventing even worse damage. There's something called "Climb On" which is really good for healing hands quickly. I live in like rock climbing central during the school year so its easy to find...I know next to nothing about climbing in Georgia though!

Mountain Run
-I never really time these, but it's 1.5mi up and 1.5mi down. My goal normally is to do it without stopping, but I think I am past that point and need to start timing it.

Notes: Damn gym was closed arghhhhh. Those bastards are trying stop me from getting strong, but I'll show them! (once it reopens). The mountain run was just what I needed. I have been feeling sluggish a lot lately until I get the ol' exercising goin.

That's why I love having weights in my garage. And a cellphone, so I can call my buddies who have weights in their garage so I can train when my gym is closed.

J/k you're not nearly cool enough to train in my garage. :icon_lol:

Hmmm might need that in the future. I had some neosporin stuff that I put on the cuts/tears seemed to make the layer of skin heal fast. I might just put some tape on them if I deadlift before it heals up. How often do you climb? I know you're lifting and doing BJJ, must be hard to fit all that stuff in.

Hmmm didn't think about that. Jerk. I think you might still be late even if we were lifting at your house :icon_chee

Running
-3 miles @ 29:40min pace. Trying out the knee sleeve, it didn't feel too weird. I think I might see a doc about this chronic knee discomfort. Campus health clinic is free so... yeah, might do that.

-This one took for-fucking-ever. I'm glad it's done, another good warm up sketch. I feel like it helped me understand shading a little better.
