Elections LBGT rights is Joe Biden's #1 legislative priority

Pick the issues (up to 5) that are the most important to pass effective legislation on

  • Non universal healthcare reform

  • Universal healthcare

  • Border crisis

  • China's rise in wealth and power, off America's losses, or General trade imbalance issues

  • Urban crime (culture) spreading

  • School shootings/security

  • Gun laws generally

  • Stopping military campaigns in the middle East

  • Generally reducing power of the military industrial complex

  • America's infrastructure

  • Women's rights

  • Non white people "rights" (sry, but after equal rights by law, this one is 'extras for non-whites')

  • LBGT rights

  • Clean energy

  • More domestic energy of any kind, including clean and fossil fuels

  • Mental health

  • Legislation regarding the future of automation and its effects on people

  • Terrorism

  • Abortion

  • Weed becoming more corporate and government ran *cough* "legalization"

  • Regulating the power of tech corps to control free speech, and collect data etc...

  • Preventing media monopolies

  • Student loans

  • Continuing the investigations and proceedings resulting from alleged trump collusion with Russian go

  • Preventing other foreign interests from having undo influence on policy; ie Saudi or Israeli etc..

Results are only viewable after voting.
Anyone who prioritizes LGBT legislation is an imbecile that needs to be kept as far from the White House as possible. Even Sherdog understands that as is evident in the poll.

Joe still has time to snap out of it.
I'll meet you halfway and say I think he'd do much better by me by harping on infrastructure and healthcare, and being reassuring on the equality issues.

I'm not underestimating it. I'm mocking them and their ridiculous, warped perception.
It's not their actual perception.. It's there political pretend perception.. So they can shill for extra rights for themselves, because life is hard. Hey, can you add "workers rights" to the poll?

Shaun King may be the preeminent SJW moron of them all, but he’s right here. Biden is trying to lead a quiet campaign early. He knows that he has decades of poor decision making that will rear its ugly head and he’s just trying to hold that off for as long as possible.

What do you think accounts for our differences in priorities?

Me:

1. Healthcare
2. Infrastructure
3. Gerrymandering (though this is really a catch-all for voting rights, if I'm being honest- I just want gerrymandering to take point)

Obviously, you favor more direct action toward restoring the electorate and increasing its power with the first two priorities, while I'm leading with two big-ticket popular items that will require major tax reform, but I don't have tax reform toward the top, preferring that reform to be driven by the desire for healthcare and not drinking poison. I don't really put much detailed thought into my approach.

I love Sanders, but infrastructure is kind of vague and cliche. And I also think it's a huge expenditure of public money and political capital. And its biggest function will be making sure that, when it eventually does come to pass, it won't be a Republican-lead giveaway to contractor cronies, which, let's face it, just means that Republicans will give away government money to some other cronies in other areas.

It's sad that in the US to get an elected official who wants to strengthen the safety net and take action against climate change, it comes with the strings attached of catering to the delusions of less than 1 percent of the population.

Imo it's sad that this is a remotely significant weighing of considerations to anyone.

"I mean, on one hand, we make our economy stable and sustainable, provide for those in need, prepare for the impending ecological disaster, and invest in our collective opportunity and education, instead of ushering in an apocalypse of corruption and government looting. But, on the other hand, gay people will think they have it harder than they do."

Also, friendly reminder that LGBTQ persons can still be legally discriminated against by the government and by private employers. They lack the rights that everyone else received 55 years ago.

Well it would definitely give us an opportunity to overhaul the contracting system, and lock up the rules hard enough that it would take another major reform to undo them. Sanders would be the top pick for that, obviously.

I can be discriminated against by private employers and the government.

And I have been, without recourse.

Please, this isn't a rhetorical compromise. This is you conceding the "equality" shit is unimportant.

We spend over a trillion in public funds on health care every year, over $3tn total, but oh, the baker told you to go somewhere else to order a custom cake (while not denying you a cake off the shelves).

Fucking reality check.

Nah, you're going for the homerun here and it's silly. I don't prioritize LGBT equality bills near the top, but plenty of people do.

Regardless of the economy, Trump will again lose the popular vote by millions of votes...and if the economy takes a dive he loses by double digits in the millions.
The popular vote means as much as my last shit.

Its the electoral vote that matters that is how the system works and unless that changes talking about the popular vote is meaningless

I'm okay with it helping a different flavor of moderate like Buttigieg, who I think has a shot at changing how we approach progressive ideas for the better (and prefer to Biden by miles), but I think you're underestimating how deeply people on the political left are offended at there being potentially second-class citizens in our country. It's a total non-starter for the entire party, and therefore a valid priority.

So who exactly has been fired for being gay? What is in this bill that makes it an urgent issue?

I'm honestly sincere in asking because the biggest issue that I've heard from the LGTB crowd is thst gender is a made up concept and bake my damn wedding cake.

As people should be free to discriminate against them.

As people should be free to discriminate against them.

And you believe the same based on race, religion, and nationality? That the government should be able to fire you from your job for finding out you're Christian, that restaurants should be able to refuse to serve you because you're black, etc.?

The line has to be drawn somewhere. Should vegan businesses be prohibited from discriminating against hunters?

You choose to hunt. Just like you choose to be vegan.

You don't choose to be homosexual.

The line is already drawn at "immutable characteristic."

Why not just use your boyfriends back like always ...
You can't just walk up and audition for my dick. You'll have to go wait at the end of a very long line here.

Equality is more in the eye of basic observations about discrimination and stuff, I think.

The trans-Title IX stuff is a messy issue and there is no solution that can make everyone happy, and yeah we have to figure that out and make some tough calls. But I don't believe that it's causing a pushback, because that's not a supported claim. To me that sounds a lot like the claim that Democrats being frivolous with investigations is hurting them and helping Republicans. A quaint thought, but not borne out by the data.

Ok, its all in my head:

We're getting into hand-holding territory now, dude. I shouldn't have to explain that the controversy (which I just said exists, and is difficult to solve) over the details isn't causing some grand reversal of the trend of support for LGBT rights. You want public opinion to be different than it is. You want the direction of opinion change to be different. It isn't. The U.S. is slowly and steadily becoming more egalitarian. Sorry.

He was elected by 77k votes in key states. He will be running on a 4 year record this time, not complete bullshit "elect me, you'll see" lies.

I'm contending that the backlash from women is just starting - like a drop of rain.

But, it gets a little stronger every day. And once confused little boys start taking scholarships in large numbers from little girls it will turn into a wave.
