Khamzat put on a masterclass in dominance

I'm seeing a lot of hate threads but personally found the fight very interesting. It's not easy to dominate and control a champion like Dricus.

I think you can appreciate the pressure and initiative Khamzat used to consistently impose his gameplan on Dricus.

Dricus had plenty of rounds to adjust to Khamzat's game, but still failed to overcome the immense skillgap. Like he said in the post-fight interview, it was as if Khamzat was always one or several steps ahead of him.

This was a masterclass performance put on by Khamzat and I highly appreciate the fact that he's competing in the sport.
Well said. I concur. A lot of people found it very interesting.

Khamzat dominated the fight every round from buzzer to buzzer. Dricus said about Khamzat what people have said about Khabib; it’s not necessarily his strength, but his positioning. To watch him be in perfect position for damn near 25 minutes was just *chef’s kiss*. Would a submission have been better? Meh, a submission takes a few seconds, loser taps, it’s over. But to get rag dolled for 5 rounds seems worse somehow. Should make us appreciate Usman and Burns more.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to rewatch this fight a couple of times to figure out exactly how he did it. Dricus just couldn't do anything. :D

i wanna see hamzat fight this dude. he's 205, but w/e it would be entertaining for me.

he didn't even sprawl,

IMO Dricus thought the same thing many fans here thought, that Khamzat would gas going balls-out the first round and be a lot easier to stuff and hit in round 2. As it turns out Khamzat has been working on both his pacing and his cardio.

In a world where Dricus thinks Khamzat was showing up to Jon Fitch wrestle for 5 rounds and land 35 significant strikes over 25 minutes, 23 of which he was in complete control, they would have spent the entire camp sprawling.

Now he knows. Now everyone knows. But you are right, the fact that he didn't have a lower stance and wasn't ready to get his hips back on the fly was poor form.

Correct, he sucks at it and khazmat couldn't finish him.

Do you know how stupid this sounds when you're referring to the champion?

"Oh, he sucks, he couldnt even finish the best fighter in the world."

Like, holy fuck people are retarded on here.

Retarded people > you

This really cracked me. Lmao! Majority of the media and fans had it actully at 50-41
2 of the 3 writers that scored the fight on Sherdog gave Dricus the 5th round. Which I also thought was very obvious.

Giving 10-8 rounds to a fighter that only landed 37 significant strikes over 5 rounds is atrocious. If that is indeed where the sport is heading, then I will be less inclined to watch

I think the sherdog guy was also the only media guy to score Burns and Usman as winning vs Khamzat.

Ridiculously biased.

I would even go as far as to say a round only deserves to be scored 10-8 if that many significant strikes are landed in that one round.

Dricus won this fight under PRIDE rules

Actually made the attempt to finish the fight in the 5th with the RNC while Khamzat just hugged the whole fight

Under PRIDE rules he would be deemed the winner just for attempting to finish the fight while Khamzat would have been issued yellow cards and possibly DQ due to just stalling & holding Dricus on ground and not trying to finish the fight

Only "offense" that Khamzat did was just holding Dricus on the ground and some "brutal" knees to the thigh of Dricus

Under the pussified UFC rules though, Khamzat won

Even the crowd was booing all that hugging and cheered when Dricus locked in the RNC which officially was the only sub attempt according the UFC stats

Khamzat fans who are defending this hugfest better keep up that same energy when other huggers in the UFC do this

It was a technical masterclass in wrestling for mma. If i cared, i would put the haters on ignore as they don t understand MMA and bring down the level of discussion but i don t care.
