That's a pretty big misrepresentation of what I said. I led my analysis with a simple phrase:Disagree with virtually every point.
The notion that, "to some people" warrants attention is absurd. Anything can be justified using that approach.
Who says other players are more talented? You?
What happens if the general public disagrees with you and/or others who make that claim?
Your conclusion on "why" CC is being marketed is highly debatable, and again, I disagree. She is being marketed because consumers are responding to the marketing. Declaring the primary driver of response as race is a very large claim that in return requires significant proof. Do you have any relevant evidence, or is that a feeling?
"As much winning" is a silly point for a team sport. It's the fallback for any player argument that lacks statistical support on an individual basis, and people making the argument inevitably create excuses on why their own logic does not apply when faced with simple examples harming the argument.
Ex. Luc Longley. He had quite a bit of "winning". Do you really want to start comparing him, and others, to the best players that never won, or had consistently poor team records?
I'm sorry, but your entire post looks like rationalization and justification. Nothing there is persuasive.
And, for the record, here is the current stat breakdown of CC vs. Reese, with CC ahead in 9 of 10 stats:
7 G 4
15.4 PTS/G 12.3
5.4 TRB/G 7.8
6.3 AST/G 1.5
1.1 STL/G 1.0
0.9 BLK/G 0.0
.371 FG% .357
.316 3P% .000
.889 FT% .633
.472 eFG% .357
IMO, CC deserves attention because she's really good and she's got the college scoring record to prove it.
So, let's not confuse my analysis of what's happening with my personal opinion.
She didn't win anything. Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Tiger Woods, Manchester United, etc. All elite sports icon are judged on winning. IF they win, the attention is warranted. If they don't then the people who are winning are in a position to question why the attention is on the person who isn't winning.
The Angel Reese thing blew up from this:

And the news story that called the LSU team "villains" and "dirty debutantes".

‘Dirty Debutantes’ Article About LSU Women’s Basketball Team Deemed Racist
An L.A. Times writer called the UCLA women’s basketball team “America’s sweethearts.” He referred to LSU players as “basketball villains” and “dirty debutantes.”

People cannot divorce the history here because it's been brewing for 2 years. This isn't some story that started when CC reached the WNBA.
