Just watched mad max for the first time

Volcano blows, Road Warrior is way better than Mad Max everyone knows this..

Always wanted to see it. I sat down and knew I was about to watch an action classic.

I was wrong.

This movie is trash. What the fuck was that? You call that an action movie? They show literally 0 people get killed. Jeez how prude is Australian film? I thought i was gonna see epic road scenes and dudes getting murked by gunfire. What I got was a bunch of nonsense. Is it supposed to be so bad its good?

The movie is paced like bumper to bumper traffic too. When it was over i thought 5 hours had gone by.

Now I have to watch the road warrior. I've heard that it is better. Which doesn't seem hard at all so it probably sucks too.

Chalk this up as my number 1 movie disappointment

I agree with TS. Mad Max is kind of generic and the setting isn't apocalyptic at all. Watch the others and the new one.

wtf is with all the fury road hate? fury road is probably the greatest action movie of all time (srs). the 80s max movies were basically amateur shit as george miller learned how to create a masterpiece like fury road.
I don't get it either. I can see that Road Warrior getting more love, since the plot really was better. But how in the actual hell do you some people not at least semi like Fury Road. At worst it is a fun crazy action move you can turn your brain off and watch. It was filmed and shot with great action pieces. I loved it and is my second fave behind Road Warrior, and honestly, the action is better in Fury Road.

Let's be fair, have you tried watching Big trouble in little China in the last 20 years. That movie was an absolute cracker in its day, watch it now and you're embarrassed to admit enjoying it.

Lol no. That movie is even better now. Mad Max is just boring.

He burns fuel for recreation and show. How did he build those water pipes? How did he make that armor? That compound? Masses of speakers? Seriously, how did they construct all this ridiculous shit?

The same way every society builds things.

Road Warrior is the movie most people are actually talking about when they talk about Mad Max.

Same as when they talk about Evil Dead, they are usually really talking about Evil Dead 2.

Drastically superior sequels, that kind of immediately replaced the originals.

TS is crazy, Mad Max is absolutely great. Possibly the greatest movie with a low budget.

Mad Max is a slow, but solid movie.
Good for giving Max's backstory.
TRW is obviously awesome.
Beyond Thunderdome is decent, i'd rate it a bit higher than Mad Max.
Fury Road was mediocre. I'd rank it below Mad Max.

So how do you rate the first bad max. 1 out of ten.

The problems obviously me, loved the original star wars when they came out but can't stand the cringe now. In fact I can't normally watch anything that's a few years old as it usually seems to have lost its shine.

I'd rather remember them fondly then have the reality of primative special effects etc. hit home. It was the bomb when it came out though, Kurt Russel was in his prime years.

If you care about Rockentowskys backstory it’s needed watch.

If not it isn’t.

I personally like it, it has a slightly different feel and vibe and lets you see humanity barely hanging on before all out apocalypse style life.

But max went out into the wasteland at the end of MM, so one often wonders if there are small pockets of humanity hanging on through the other films somewhere.
