Jones needs to wrestle to win... ?

I originally thought Gane would beat the shit out of Jon. But now I've changed my mind. Jon has a huge edge in experience. He has more wins in title fights than Gane has total fights. Jones makes this look easy round 1 sub.

Not necessarily, but it’s definitely a good idea to use your advantages

Jones had always mixed top tier striking and wrestling together...making him GOAT. Hopefully he goes back to it.

Jon has already won. He is getting lots of money even though he is unproven and has not fought in 3 years. All he needs to do is sell the fight. Laughable at best...

I don't know if he has to wrestle, but I think he'd be wise to mix it up. Gane shouldn't feel safe from takedowns.

I think Jon can handle Gane in the clinch, and from the outside. He just can't hang out in punching range. Those oblique stomps will be key.

Why the fuck do you people even watch MMA if you only want to see kickboxing?

Fucking bewildering sometimes.

God yes. Wrestling or the threat of wrestling, along with massive amounts of steroids, is the only reason he was ever successful standing up. He's got pillow fists despite pretty much always being the larger fighter.

lmao my goodness we’ve gotten to the point where now jones stand up isn’t good

this place is completely filled with literal retards

I think this is 100% true.
I think he absolutely needs to take Gane down, keep him there to either sub/tko him or just long enough to win rounds until an eventual decision.

Jones IMO cannot win this fight in a primarily kickboxing match. I also don't think he'll be able to have much success getting a hold of Gane to rough him up in the clinch or against the cage as Cyril is extremely elusive and crafty.

I still feel like Jon will be able to take Gane down and finish him but if Gane can defend some early takedowns we could see a super interesting scenario..

Thoughts???
What am I missing?
Do you agree?
Chime in Sherexperts

100% agree. This whole fight boils down to whether or not Jones can get the clinch and work his TDs.

I think that's Jon's only way to win.

I mean, his boxing is trash, can't really argue against that. He's got very good kicks and eye pokes, but he's not very mobile at all.

He's a good enough striker, but most of it is based on being the much longer guy and making use of his rangy kicks. A pure standup fight with Gane won't be competitive at all.

Best way for him to gas out quickly if Gane manages to stuff that takedown, or to make him work quite a lot for it.

I wonder in what type of condition Jones will show up, carrying all that extra weight, and handling a much bigger man than he's ever had to in a fight. Grappling situations may very well end up being very taxing on his gas tank through a 5 round fight, which Gane has been through a few times at HW already. That's probably one of the bigger question marks in that fight.

Jones didn’t lost striking exchanges vs Reyes Jones outstruck every opponent hes fought and who did Gane beat on feet better than Jones
Absolute BS!

Statistically, not only did Reyes land more strikes than Jones, but he also landed more significant strikes. I've put the official stats down below, so you have no choice but to accept that you are factually wrong.

Reyes also outstruck Jones in rounds 1,2 and 3, so yh, Reyes won that fight.

Jon was much more effecient and wasn't gassed or hurt 8 more sig strikes doesn't mean anything jones won 5th 4th and 2nd round

I believe you have some reading comprehension defecencies sir.

Nobody said we don't want to see wrestling. Rather, we are discussing whether or not Jones needs to wrestle to win this fight.
