Jon Jones Likely Has Nothing For Ciryl Gane

I agree that Jon isn't a top tier striker, but he throws unconventional strikes from weird angles, and then power takedowns... most of these heavies are not going to be able to get back up. Jon isn't an idiot and he's gonna wrastle-fuck the division most likely, but most people at that weight can get caught and put out, so it's definitely a step up in the 'danger zone'. Jon actually looked slow at LHW, but he's gonna look slick and fast at heavy... I'm optimistic.

For you to pretend you will know Jones conditioning level is a joke.
He has never gassed in a fight before and its very possible he will have a bigger tank without needing to cut weight.

You don't put on 40 pounds and have a bigger tank unless you're on drugs but then again we're talking about Jon. If Jon is clean his conditioning wont be as good as LHW when he weighed 40 pounds lighter

Me, personally, I think it's entirely possible Jon loses because of ring rust while changing weight classes and fighting against the second best HW at the moment, but if he's still able to wrestle he has a very good chance of cracking Gane's head wide open with elbows.
Now, if Jones wins I can't wait to see the excuses from the haters. It's going to be fun: "Steroids!!", "Gane got taken down by Ngannou!!!!", "Jones pocked his eyes!!!!!!!", "Judges are bought!!!!!!!!!!", "Herb Dean's bought!!!!!!!!", ...

Well you know that if you fight long enough you start losing at some point ? There's only one prime and Jones has left it long ago. He may have fucked up knees or whatever you have after 15 years of fighting at a professionnal level.

If there is a shift, i would say Gane is hungrier and improving, and Jones is fading and looking for a glorious way out

If he tries to strike for more than 1 rnd he's done. If he wrestles its an easy win for Jones

Most likely he will wrestle and it will be an easy fight with no risk of 1 shot KO

Tougher matchups would have been Volkov, Werdum, Reem, Blaydes

Everyone would have complained that jones cherry picked out of prime, old washed up heavyweights if he fought werdum or overeem (he beats both btw)

Reyes used length, tdd, and footwork to trouble (I think clearly beat) Jones and he is hardly a seasoned grappler.

I think people should give Gane more of a break with NGannou considering no one expected that gameplan. Also it's a big difference trying to avoid KO blows from NGannou.

Jones is an inferior striker to Gane, lacks traditional knockout power, and doesn't have the conditioning to grapple as he did when he was a younger man. Jon arguably lost his last two fights at LHW and definitely would have lost his last fight if not for incompetent judging.

Gane in his last fight became the first fighter to KO Tai Tuivasa who had only been TKOd previously. Gane appears to be sitting down more on his punches since the loss to Ngannou. It is questionable whether Jones can handle that type of knockout power.

What exactly does a path to victory for Jones look like because it is difficult to see a clear one?

Curious to see if Gane will have a more agressive approach since Jones is not known for his KO power.

It wasn't scary at LHW, imagine at HW and considering Gane has fought Lewis, Ngannou and Tuivasa in a row.

It's hard to see Jon easily wrestling Ciryl, when he struggled to take down, nevermind control Dominic. Everyone is acting like Francis is a bum grappler, it's really weird... He easily outwrestled Stipe in their rematch, and he's probably much much stronger than Jon. Getting thrown around by Francis is nothing to be ashamed of, and it's not like Ciryl was helpless, he had his moments too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ciryl gets a tko, similar to the Tuivasa fight, like an accumulation of bodyshots or something along those lines. If Jones wins, it would have to be through relentless pressure, like he did with Dominic, unless he comes out with some never before seen power in his strikes, or surprises me with his grappling. He's always looked super dominant on the ground, but that Reyes fight was a really bad look.

I can't help it with the Reyes decision because really the fight wasn't even close. Reyes banked the first 3 rounds and arguably won the 4th.

I thought Jon edged out Gus and Santos. But he definitely lost to Reyes.
