Jon Jones is gonna reality check alot of people who assume Aspinall will be a threat

Sadly, Jones isnt as confident, fight wont happen.
I doubt its a matter of confidence. Thats what people were saying about Gane and DC and Gus 2

Aspiral has had 1 ppv

Whats the incentive for Jones if he can get super fights?

Jones is 37 years old and hasnt been an active fighter since the 2010s. I dont understand how so many people keep failing to take this into account and just hang on the idea that its Jon Jones. Clearly hes still a good fighter but he is not 2011 Jon anymore. He isnt all that elusive now either, even old slow AF Stipe was landing on him.

Also this notion that Tom only has one round in him is completely baseless. Not seeing someone go past the first round doesnt mean they arent capable of it.

Anyway lets just get the fight made and find out.

Once you are at the top there are no "incentives" anymore...you either defend or you dont, in boxing there are other equals, thats the incentive, to be the one guy that rules a division, and even then, champions drop belts left and right to fight who they want, in MMA once you are the champion what incentives are there? None.

Jones has to defend or vacate, my coment was aimed at how confident some of the Jones´s fanboys seem to be, i like Jones, way more than Aspinall, im 100% indiferent to him actually, the fact that Jones doesnt want the fight unless the UFC pays him an amount he couldnt refuse AKA "fuck you money" sounds more like lacking the confidence his fanboys have, do i think he can win? Sure he can, does he think the same? Probably, but he knows the risk involved in a fight where his opponent has no name value, but, he has a belt, defend or vacate, i wouldnt mind him fighting Pereira, but Jones refusing to fight Aspinall sounds like a fair reason to strip him, and im not even a hater of him.

I heard him say hes willing to vacate to fight to Poatan

Dudes been fighting for over a decade beating everyone. Makes sense to ask for as much as possible if you're the sports best.

This narrative that tom is this weeks jones killer and he's scared, is silliness at this point.

That said, yes, if Jones doesnt feel "incentive" to fight Tom for little or no money, he needs to give up the belt.

Jones just finished top ranking HWs faster than he has at any point his career

Gane was 13 seconds

I wouldnt say he is this weeks killer, but he is certainly the biggest challenge in years, pro fighters are not scared of fighting anyone, i do agree thats silly, but they balance risk and pay, why didnt hesitate in calling out Miocic? the guy won a fight years ago, KO´d by Ngannou, another guy Jones sort of played the money card against, and Ngannou did the same on his part, both ducked each other, neither is scared of the other, they just played their cards in their best interest, same here, Aspinall is WAY more of a risk compared to Miocic, by a lot, Pereira, more money in the sense of PPV, he can demand a reasonable pay from the UFC and the rest will be covered in PPV, why? Risk, Aspinall has no casuals hype behind him, could they sell an stadium in the UK to maximize profits? maybe, but fight time will be something Jones will absolutely have an issue with, the man isnt fighting in random hours, its US time and US only for him, MSG or Vegas.

It all comes down to risk, Aspinall offers the biggest risk with the least name value.

Jones is following the same steps of Canelo Alvarez (if you follow boxing), he is asking for "fuck you money" (jokingly said 200M, Jones actually refuses to say a number, its that bad with him) to fight David Benavidez, the guy is his biggest threat in years, younger and bigger, skilled, Canelo just like Jones (he is way richer tho) doesnt need anything from Benavidez, same goes for Jones, but their respective haters (and some fans) want to see the fight happen, i do want to see the fight happen and just like Jones im also a Canelo fan.

We know Jon Jones has a very good chance to beat Aspinall. IMO it's a 50/50 fight. If Jones can take down Aspinall, he will probably win. If he can't, I think Aspinall will win.

We just want to see Jon Jones defend against an actual threat. If he wins, good for him. He can retire the GOAT.

I will say it right now! Tom Aspinall has a punchers chance and his window of winning the fight closes in the first round heck not even first round but first minutes of first round where he has his explosiveness. Jon Jones is to smart to get caught by a one shoot he has fought gazilions of guys with one punch KO power etc etc.

The Amount of arsenal Jon Jones has is to great for Aspinall. Heck I won´t even be surprised if Jones finishes him in the first round.

Jones knows that Aspinall is same level as Ciryl Gane and past first round he is done. Tom Aspinall has never taken any of the shoots Jones is gonna throw at him and fighting chinny slow HWs is nothing compared to Jon Jones which is completely different world of difference. Throwing some haymakers at random heavyweights who have no IQ is nothing comparable to sharing an octagon with Jon Jones.

I don´t think Aspinall is ready because he has never seen adversary in his career aside from his knee injury and fight was stopped. Jon is intelligent, fast and lethal. He is experienced and has been thru wars and extremely elusive this will frustrate Aspinall from first few mins when he realize holyshxt this guy is elusive and he is hitting me everytime with something big. This will be the beginning of the end Aspinall will feel like a fish out of water..

TF are you talking about? Aspinall clearly is a threat. Jones will try to grab hold of Tom and get lit up in the process.

Jones' should've lost to Reyes, former welterweight Thiago Santos and Gus.

He'd also have lost to former middleweight Anthony Smith by DQ, if Smith told the ref he couldn't continue.

You guys said the same thing about Anderson Silva back in the day, nobody is untouchable and that applies to Jones but if you are right and Jones does beat Tom he’s undisputed GOAT
The difference is Weidman was a bad matchup for Silva. Tom isn’t for Jones.

May have some advantages at this stage, but not a bad matchup.

Tom by contrast actually has 3 losses, but okay thanks for bringing up Jon maybe possibly might’ve lost some fights by 1 round or through no fault of his opponent years ago.

Real confidence boosting to suddenly bet against him.

Sure, but are the signs there?

People were calling on Topuria to finally KO Max as Max had been getting hurt in recent fights.

Are we in a similar situation here or would that be an upset?

Tom is 10-1 since his 24th birthday.
His one loss was via knee injury, to a guy who was ranked the #3 heavyweight in the world, going into the fight.

His “knee injury” was because he got dropped recklessly charging a HW and hurt it further on the way down from those punches.

You’re not making the point you think you are saying Tom has a great Blitz and has recently lost a fight from it.

The biggest threat to Jones has always been enforcing the rules. His wins magically disappear when held accountable.

His “knee injury” was because he got dropped
Wrong, he dropped FROM the knee exploding.

recklessly charging a HW
Wrong, he wasn’t charging at the time, he was rechambering his kick. And he set his leg back down wrong after getting pushed off balance.

and hurt it further on the way down
Wrong, it was hurt once, not "further"

from those punches
Wrong, only one punch landed.

You’re not making the point you think you are saying Tom has a great Blitz and has recently lost a fight from it.
You're not making any real points at all

Jon is insanely over rated. Aspinall beats any version of him that’s not allowed to cheat with eye pokes. Crazy how that’s just dismissed by his fans too. Jon won most of his fights by cheating using eye pokes to maintain range.

If Aspinall wasn’t a threat, he would’ve dealt with him already. Jones knows this could be a challenge hence why he is dragging negotiations and asking obscene amounts to do the bare minimum requirement of a champion (fight the interim champ and unify the belts).

It’s not ideal but if he wants to chase a super fight with Pereira, go for it. Just vacate the title and stop holding up the HW division. It’s already a joke as it is. No need to make the division any more of a clown show.
