He may very well win but I'm far from convinced that he has proven to this point that he's the best heavyweight in the world. Let's see what happens if he actually fights Aspinall, should be very interesting.

You can't, because there isn't anyone.

There are some past opponents who have some of what Tom has, but not one who has anywhere near the combination.

I really had no issue with Jones wanting Stipe (at the time they signed originally, Aspinall wasn't in the spot he is now and Jones had earned his "legacy" fight for whatever the hell that meant.)

But acting like the rankings matter and aren't just ridiculously manipulated (sometimes, like in this situation with Stipe in an absurd manner that anyone with a brain knows is bullshit) is too dumb to comprehend.

I love Sherdog. It can never be a competitive fight. It's either Jones kills him, or Tom kills him. But what ever team you're on, the other team doesn't have a chance.

Honestly, this. While it's true that Tom is Jon's toughest fight in some time, probably since DC, Jon is a far better fighter than anyone Tom has fought, and he's likely going to be the best fighter Tom ever will fight. This is (on paper, anyway) a much closer fight than either side is willing to admit.

The thing that Jones fans don't understand is that those of us calling for the Aspinall fight aren't doing so because we necessarily think Tom will beat Jones, its purely because its the best HW fight that the UFC can make and as an interim champion with a title defense under his belt Tom has earned the shot.

I also very much want to see Arman fight Islam, not because I think Arman wins but because he deserves it and presents the most interesting challenge.

Aspinall is the best HW fight but no HW had a real shot at beating Jones. So the distinction is irelevant.
