I have that pretty much flipped. El Camino, while not amazing, still had me on the edge of my seat for pretty much the entire thing; whereas Joker, while decent, ultimately bored me as a mediocre copy of Taxi Driver repackaged for the masses.

A mediocre copy of Taxi Driver? Brother, you have some seriously bad taste. I haven't seen El Camino, but regardless of how good it was, Joker was fantastic. I even think it was better than Taxi Driver, which is a slow (but also very good) movie that stars an actor who not as good as Joaquin Phoenix. Yes, you heard me right. Joaquin is a better actor than Robert.

Place your bets. Will Petey respond with "recency bias" (+25), a defense of classic Bob (+75), or ye olde pithy gif (-243875)?

kinda cool. wasnt bad but i wasnt blown away
pretty similar to any serial killer doc, they just made it tie in to another characters origin story

Recency bias is definitely a thing, we all remember The Dark Knight beating Shawshank Redemption & The Godfather on imdb’s all-time greatest list when it came out. Lol.

Bobby D’s classic work doesn’t need defending, it speaks for itself.

And as for gifs... no need to get pithy with me.

Otw to watch this now by myself. Can't wait for start laughing for no reason

I would say this movie touched far more emotional nerves than Taxi Driver. It might be better. Pheonix needs a couple more iconic roles before I could say he's better than Bob overall.

Liked the movie, but it was very weak on how he started a riot and him getting on the talk show made no sense. Also I can't believe how skinny he got.

I don't know whether the riot and talk show even happened or if it was just in his head like his dates.

Okay now you’re pushing it. Lol

Taxi Driver will likely never be surpassed when it comes to its themes.

There was controversy over the inclusion of convicted child molester Garry Glitter's song in the iconic scene where Joker is dancing down the steps. Happily, it's now been confirmed that although Glitter, who is serving a 16 year sentence for sex offences, wrote Rock & Roll Part II, he doesn't own the rights. Which means the kiddy-fiddling piece of shit won't make a dime in royalties:)

What I thought was a pretty original and very cool thing this movie did was, guess it's time for spolier tags
it showed why the Joker has such a large support. Ever since I saw the Joker in the old Batman TAS as a kid, I always wondered how he always got his goons with him. I thought it would be pretty hard to find people to allign with such an unpredictable madman and it wouldn't simply be a matter of paying them a salary. But this movie actually shows a very good explanation for all his support.

Joke's on him then. ;)
