i liked the song lol
El Camino is an absolute bore fest compared to Joker.
Exactly.no joke bro, how long has it been since you watched the movie? were you wasted yourself when you watched it? they started fucking with him for no reason, and then the 3 of them started kicking the absolute dogshit out of him. 3 guys stomping and soccer kicking a frail ill man that weighs all of 130lbs. in real life, thats called a life and death situation. that would be labeled self defense 100% of the time, except for the 3rd guy which he chased down and shot in the back. but by all means, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation feel free to let the kick your teeth out until they get bored and *hopefully* dont leave you dead/braindead
The film should get recognition for sound design and editing. The sound effects combined with the score made it so immersive... Not subversive thank God. This is one of those non.action flicks that should be seen in theaters or at least with a surround sound system
Let me tell you about my luck...For me was not such a great movie altough Phoenix was marvelous in the movie.
My problem with the movie, is that don´t make sense. What are odds of everything bad happen to the same guy? And them the talk show guys he loves, just happen to see videos of him performing comedy. Them the whole abuse/paternity thing is a bit of a stretch.
I'm telling anybody and everybody who will listen to go see it. That includes my mom, who hates violence, but loves Joaquin Phoenix.
Ive seen it twiceSo who has seen it a second time? I'm thinking of going again.
Ive seen it twice
I liked it maybe a tiny bit more the second time
the theatre was still packed, saw it this saturday at like 11:15am not an open seat tin the house
Yeah I wanted to go in as open minded as possible, since I didn't think it was great the first timeYou're not a huge fan though, right? I saw your vote. So you wanted to understand the hype a bit more by giving it another chance?
Yeah I wanted to go in as open minded as possible, since I didn't think it was great the first time
and I didn't think it was bad, I just think it was beating me over the head with its themes and I don't like movies like that. I didn't think it was particularly deep or subtle at all. And maybe that's not what they were going for, but whatever.
It was an okay movie and I enjoyed watching it both times.
like
for example, the moment when you find out that he hadn't been dating the woman, which I thought the movie did a good job basically telling you before the reveal - but I wont begrudge anyone who up to the point of the actual reveal thought their relationship was still real. Okay so he goes to her apartment or whatever and she's like "who are you" I was like 'Ooooh shit' thats a great moment, then they absolutely ruined it (imo) with the montage showing you she was in fact not there during the moments. It kind of blew the air out of the moment for me. Its stuff like that that I didn't like about the movie.
I thought it was well crafted, there are some great shots. The Pheonix gives a masterful performance. But beyond that I just think it's okay.
The whole story is pretty cliche and uninspired. I feel like I've seen it a hundred times before.
I see. Yeah, I understand how you can see that as laying it on a little too thick. I just saw it as a visual clarification of how some of those moments really transpired. I mean I instantly realized it was all just in his head after the reveal, but that doesn't really tell you what actually happened in the moments they shared. So if anything the montage didn't really cover enough of how it really went down, for me. But I understand they couldn't just interject whole scenes from an earlier points in time, so I was okay with it.
I also saw you said that Ledger's Joker was better and I fully agree, but I think that even though Joaquin is officially the Joker at the end of the movie, he still isn't fully it. Or at least, IMO, they could progress his decent into madness and manifestation as the Joker a lot more in a (or more) sequel(s). And he could become a better Joker than Heath, Though that's still a very high bar. Heath just had a more complete Joker written out for him than Joaquin, but Joaquin has a little more realism in the setting and script, which possibly could mean that he'd eventually have a more impressive portrayal of the Joker.
I mean I think Heath just has the benefit, for me at least, is that he's exactly what I imagined a "real" version of the joker would be except better. I think he completely captured the character in a way that stuck with me. I mean despite not being the focal point of the movie, he was that entire movie.
But Phoenix is such a great actor that I agree that if they waned to explore that more he could smash it. I don't think that they will, but if they do it could be really good
So who has seen it a second time? I'm thinking of going again.
