When committing your first murders acts as the catalyst for finally giving you the balls to seize a woman in a moment of alpha passion, I would say that’s a pretty strong case for an incel correlation.

Especially when the sexual escapade ended up being nothing but a mere beta fantasy.

Yeah but I always understood incels as creating barriers of their own. "Arthur Fleck" has actual shit going on , depression, abuse. An actual victim to his circumstances , incels are victims in their own heads.

I don’t think that’s universally true at all.

They often have co-morbidities besides simple mating fears.

I'm not going to over think or research it , either way it's the most ridiculous construct on the last few years.

Fucking go out , meet people , work out be healthy ,have some self respecr I don't understand how that is so hard .

It is when you’re on the autism spectrum or come from a dysfunctional family or any other issue that the incels of the news have shown us.

That doesn’t require much analysis to determine it’s more than lack of fashion or fitness.

Just reflecting on the film again, Joaquin was phenomenal. Such a great performance.

Watching the anorexic dork laugh for an hour was miserable
Watching Deniro shake in Awakenings.. Watching Pacino talk with a bad accent.. Watching Redmayne in a wheelchair..

I think maybe you don't appreciate really, really good acting. I mean, this movie made Marvel movies look like what they are. Maybe you don't like that.

Wow. I just saw it. It was fucking incredible. It was billed as a drama/thriller but to me it was more of a drama/horror movie.

Joaquin's transformation from an awkward, dejected, good-for-nothing loser to a ruthless killer was absolutely spectacular.

I endorse your sentiment 100%. And I'll say that I fucking LOVED his laugh. It was so genuine and full of pain and rejection. It captured his suffering perfectly, like he was trying to be happy but in reality was absolutely miserable.

He wasn't just good for nothing. He enjoyed his job. He wanted to entertain kids. His awkwardness got the better of him, as did others rudeness.

You're right. But people treated him like he was good for nothing. And he was actually a good guy. He was not a bad person at all at the beginning.

But you know what's so amazing about this movie? How you end up rooting for the bad guy. It reminds me of another GOAT film..."Unforgiven". By all accounts, Will Munny was a despicable, murderous person as a young man. But because we see him as a sad, guilt-stricken man, later in life, we feel pity for him and actually root for him.

Just saw the movie last night. It was incredible, even knowing it was getting great reviews and having high expectations I loved it! 8.5/10

I actually winced listening to him laugh. It literally sounded painful, as though he was about to throw up.

Weird things you find in youtube.

Joaquin Phoenix played Supergirl ...I mean Superkid in the superboy tv series.

30 something Lex Luger played evil superboy in said series too.

No comic book movies have as little a dropoff, right? Impressive gross. Over 500 mill worldwide thus far.

Bro, it such a GOAT drop off

For comparison

Black Panther had a 45% dropoff

Some websites are even saying that Joker might end up flirting with a 1 billion worldwide total

It should. It was better than Endgame.

For an R-rated film with a lot of hype that's a very good number indeed for a second weekend. The massive issue as well is this is a film with a $55 million budget not a $200 million budget, its already made a very significant profit.
I love how his victim become so fucking lifeless after that. Like he was actually a living human being before Joker pulled the trigger, and now he’s fucking dead! Every other movie when someone gets shot you’re like “meh” but in Joker, you’re like “ holy shit! He off that n!gga!”

True, Hollywood does love bloodless shootings with little aftermath so seeing him unloading bullets into corpses was something very different.

I would say the difference is that he never shows any kind of resentment against women or indeed racism, homophobia, etc if he has any discontent beyond those he views as holding back his career its with the general establishment being uncaring.

That he was so quickly characterised as an "incel" though I think perhaps tells you a lot about the media's focuses and blind spots, the latter most obviously with class issues.

I loved his laugh. It wasn’t a cool laugh, it was genuinely uncomfortable watching it
