Official story is he hurled himself off the top bunk and created enough force to break his neck like this
In fairness, that's not an impossible theory.

Trying to picture it.In fairness, that's not an impossible theory.
So now its changed from him leaning forward on the sheet to strangle himself to now jumping off a top bunk? I guess it makes sense considering the multiple fractures in his neck. Amazing how sheets designed to prevent hanging can be strong enough to snap a mans neck.Official story is he hurled himself off the top bunk and created enough force to break his neck like this
Trying to picture it.
It's been discussed ITT the way to do it is wrap and lean and cut off the blood, eventually dying.
This of break comes from drop and snap. I'm having a hard time seeing that pulled off here
Also don't forget that Jeff was very bottom heavy. Those poor vertebrae stood no chance at all.well, if you look at the pictures of a standard MCC cell I posted above. You can easily see how he could roll off the top bunk, then tuck into an aerial summersault, stopping halfway through, and landing directly on the top of the head to break the neck.
Pretty standard maneuver for math teachers, investing wizards, and experts at manipulation who are smarter than the average prisoner.

He was old. Old bones. Old neck bones.
Trying to picture it.

Asphyxiation is a terrible way to die. A botched leap from a bunk could very easily fail bit leave one gurgling in a wheelchair.Well, he could've easily botched it a bit, which might explain the alleged screeching heard from his cell(not sure if that actually true though).
I'm trying to put myself into his shoes. Let's say he wanted to do it. Strangling yourself takes some will. You gotta hang on for a bit, before you pass out. So, he thinks of quicker ways where he won't have any time to think about it. Sees the top bunk, and thinks maybe a roll and sudden drop would do the trick. It's not a high drop, but maybe it'll be enough at least for him to instantly black out from the initial force, before his feet hit the ground. So he ties a very short "noose" to the corner of bunk, puts it around his neck, tucks his legs in and cannonball rolls off the bed.
I can't say I know how effective that would be, but I'd imagine it would do some damage. Maybe he rolled off, hit the drop, but it didn't actually kill him, and just broke some bones in his neck causing extreme pain. So he screeched a bit, and then just hung on for the ride and eventually went dark and gravity did the rest.
Eh, it's a theory.

Obviously suicide is the only logical explanation given the evidence available. No Guard Check
No Bunk mate
Camera turned off
Shrieking from cell before death
Paper thin sheets
Tall man with low bunk
Broken bones more consistent with strangulation
Yea, suicide it is
I suggest you go back and read @cottagecheesefan in-depth explanation of the physics involved in the actual suicide attempt. I was a bit skeptical myself but he cleared it up for me.i've read that often in public hangings, where the punished would drop through a floorboard ten feet, the neck wouldn't snap and onlookers would watch as they struggle rather than die instantly

For a lot of young women it was also the first time they got to see an erection. Ah, the good ol days.i've read that often in public hangings, where the punished would drop through a floorboard ten feet, the neck wouldn't snap and onlookers would watch as they struggle rather than die instantly

Lol wtf. Is this plane still in his estate or the one he sold?
He had a common strangulation injuryI find it more than a little unlikely that a person killed and then rigged up his dead body to hang from the bunk. Anybody thought of that yet, or are we still full derp mode because he had a common hanging injury?
