Izzy doesn't even need to cut to weight 205

I love Israel, but I believe this will be a long night for him. He will really feel the power and strength of a LHW. Israel is Probably the most talented guy in the ufc at this moment, and a badass in every way, but that doesn’t mean he is Anderson Silva.

The disrespect Jan gets is mindblowing. If he mixes it up against Adesanya, he will give Israel a tough fight. His grappling might not be at the level or Corey or DC, but he has power and strength over Adesanya and has submitted the likes of Krylov. If he mixes it up, the threat of takedown could allow him to land on Israel. Don't think it would take many hits for Jan to KO Adesanya.
What disrespect?

Are you referring to people “looking past him” ? Because this is a discussion forum and Jon and Izzy are both too 3 P4P and similar ish size so that is a reasonable fan debate imo.

I think people are pretty realistic that Jan can hurt Izzy but is an underdog due to speed and striking skill gap.

Jan can 100% win that fight and finish Izzy in the feet or the ground, but he has to land that shot or take Izzy down, neither being an easy task.

I've seen many posts that shit on Jan for his losses to Santos and Gus and whatnot. They don't seem to factor in that he could improve. Jan has rematched 3 opponents he lost to, and he destroyed all 3, including Corey who was on a win streak.

Jan has very deceptive speed. While Israel's punches go fast from the moment they are thrown, Jan has a slow beginning but a fast and powerful combo at the end.
Jan is around 225 pounds in the cage. He will have around 20-25 pound advantage fight night, since Adesanya is around 200 pounds. Jan will be bigger, stronger, and powerful with deceptive speed. He will finish Israel and send him back to MW. People thought Rockhold was going to dethrone Jan by moving up to 205. Then Jacare. Adesanya will be the third guy he sends back to MW. If 5 foot 8 Gastelum can bust up Adesanya's face, Jan will duplicate that and finish him.

Fair enough.

I haven’t seen much of that, but I agree, Jan deserves respect. He is on a hell of a run and has some beautiful KOs lately.

I see a decent amount of praise and respect for Jan though. Which is how it should be.

It's not a joke. He roofied himself prior to the fight because of nerves. As Silva beat him a by very small margin of an inch (maybe less) and a second (maybe less) in terms of distance and reaction, it's perfectly reasonable to think that a non-drugged Griffin beats Silva. He for sure beats a non-juiced Silva.
sauce?

Yup, I can see him going the Glover route where he improves with age.

That must be a very slow beginning then lmfao. Not knocking Jan, but Izzy will make him look like he’s fighting under water. I don’t see it going well for him.

it's because he's white. remember when a bunch of people said Stipe sucks even tho he was on a 5 fight KO streak going into the Ngannou fight? lots of people thought Ngannou was going to kill Stipe and the evidence was that he KO'd Overeem and Arlovski, 2 guys Stipe had KO'd before Ngannou.
Hmm... i don't know, but that could be the reason, or one of the reasons.
In all fairness though, Ngannou was on a six fight finish streak inside the UFC (10 finishes in a row overall) himself, but i agree that Stipe was (and still is) severely underrated by many.
I think the fact that Ngannou looks more like a cartoon character than Stipe does has shaped this narrative as well.
Fans of combat sports should know better, but so many people still fall for athletic/muscular looking fighters, it's crazy... (both Stipe and Jan have a super wide upper body, possibly making them look sluggish to some people too).
Last but not least, people always expect more outspoken guys to be the better athlete's if that makes sense - Stipe and Jan are both very usual (in a good way imo) and unspectacular guys outside the cage.

less technical than Ngannou?

You're on drugs

Also, average grapplers don't submit Nikita Krylov

pretty much every single word of his post was wrong

honestly impressive to be wrong that many times in one post

i agree, all of those things are a factor too but on sherdog being black and muscular gives you like 40% more skill in fighting.

Ngannou was on a long win streak too, but the only 2 wins that actually mattered Stipe had already destroyed. so i don't see how anyone could look at Ngannou and Stipe's body of work up until then and think Ngannou has anything but a puncher's chance to win. like, there's literally no logical explanation.

I mean considering that - from my memory - there are more black fighters who're muscular and lean than there are white fighters with similar traits in the UFC, it might very well be that on average, black fighters suffer more from fans putting unjustifiably high expectations on them when it comes to how they perform.

I just do try to not make generalizing claims when it comes to topics this sensitive, especially since i'm probably amongst the whitest people (talking about skin color, not a stereotype) on this forum, so i try to avoid being misinterpreted as a closet-racist or something like that, even though it should be very clear that i'm not.

i'm not white. i'm a Polynesian. but i'm not blind. the world, especially the internet, is filled with memes about race. i don't think you're racist at all, i'm the one who brought it up, but only because i think it's true. not everyone picked Ngannou cuz he's black and muscular but i know a lot of people did even if only subliminally. which is why there is a "bbc genetics" meme.

the same thing can be said about Polynesians. if someone hears "Samoan" instantly majority of people will think you're gigantic, played football/rugby, and are good at fighting. when people think those things, i don't think they're racist even though they believe in a stereotype. it's not their fault that the internet has made these stereotypes widespread. they're just ignorant, not evil.

if the Jones that fought Santos or Reyes shows up again, Izzy has a very good chance
The Izzy that fought Romero showed up Jones would kill him while having a hangover after a week of escorts, alcohol and coke.

Let’s be real.
Jan vs Adesanya looks like it could be a competitve fight. A fight that Adesanya might be able to win.
And let’s not kid ourselves, Jon Jones would kill Adesanya. Any version of him.
