Why would Iran do that and listen to the UN when they're actively being sanctioned and Trump pulled out of the deal because of Israel? They enriched uranium as a direct result of Trump pulling out of the deal. They would otherwise have zero leverage to get the sanctions taken off.

Iran joined the JCPOA nuclear agreement under Obama. They were abiding by everything, but in 2018, Trump pulled out of the deal due to political pressure from Netanyahu and Israel.

Then Trump re-imposed and expanded heavy sanctions on Iran. So in response, Iran started enriching uranium to have a bargaining chip to ease those sanctions "If you stop sanctioning us, we will stop enriching uranium and do a new deal."

Apartheid ended barely 30 years ago, and Israel's assistance in South African proliferation is barely older than that. Trotting out the "that's ancient history argument" is prime facie evidence you can't refute the point.

Russia would still be in this conflict one way or another, there's too much inertia behind it.

No I want the Iranian regime to cease to exist so the ancient Persian people can be free. The near 10 million Iranian expats can return to their ancestral homes without fear of being hung to death from a crane on the street for no crime at all. I want the Iranian regime to stop arming Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and everyone in between so we can actually start working toward peace in the region.

And most importantly I want the Iranian regime to stop arming Russia with hundreds of thousands of lethal munitions to use on the Ukrainian people.
