Islam Makhachev better than Khabib?

Come on man, I get it, his beliefs and associates aren't exactly the best, but there is no need to deny stuff that is readily available to watch.
I have no problem with Khabib as a person or as a fighter. Yeah, his record is extremely padded, but he proved himself to be an elite fighter, eventually. The problem is his fans and their revisionist history.
Might not have the best resume, but he made seasoned professionals who are still in the Top 5 at LW today, look like they didn't belong. There are guys who people consider dominant who have lost to regional fighters or lost in the UFC or barely squeaked by with a split decision. Besides the Tibau fight, there were really no questions with him.
There were so many questions about him. His legacy is defined by questions. He fought about once a year an only faced good opponents near the end of his career.

Agree, but I much prefer Makh, not because Khabib is boring or whatever, but because seeing a sweet judo trip or some cool technique done effectively by a master in the midst of combat makes my loins tingle.

Its always a pleasure watching the martial arts mixed together masterfully. And it helps that Makhachevs style gives his opponents more room to actually fight him unlike Khabib who was so dominant that he just shut down fighters and didnt allow them to show off their fight skills.

Valid take imo, to me Makhachev has some feeling of inevitability than turns me off his fights, while during Nurmagomedov's rise I was still a newbie (started watching from UFC 217), so this kind of dominant, all out grappling was very novel to me. Watched him for the 1st time obliterating Barboza on some shit PPV.

Khabib fans are the greatest fans. We were always right.

Ares just added Khabib to the list of things he hates. Which is everything, except wmma, Ian garry, and Paddy Pimbletch
I don't hate Khabib. I hate people mythologizing a fighter with a padded resume.

There are so many real fighters worthy of more respect. Fighters that actually proved themselves and never ducked a challenge.

Khabib was fighting debutantes as a 15-0 pro. That is truly pathetic.

Garry fans are always right too. And Garry actually fights the best opponents he can find, unlike Cherry-picking Khabib.

Do you even believe the bullshit that comes out ya mouth??? Helll naaaaaaw

1st fight was too close for me to call, in no way was Mak dominant.

2nd fight NEVER should have happened, Volk's coach/team failed him miserably.

Volk saved a card & made big money, but that was a career disaster.
Neither of things refute what I said.

Makhachev already has a more impressive resume than Khabib. Winning a close decision over Volkanovski is more impressive than almost all of Khabibs wins, dominant or not.

Makhachev would dominate Horcher, Iaquinta and McGregor too.

Meanwhile, Khabib struggled mightily with Tibau, and Makhachev ran right through him. So who is really more dominant?

It's easy to be dominant when you are fighting mediocre fighters.

The truth hurts. Your statement was equally ridiculous.

The difference is that what I said was true.

No, when I said no questions, I meant in the fights themselves. Yes, he left a TON on the table, (I'm of the opinion that he would have been one of the GOATS if he kept on fighting and increased his fight activity) but the dominance, especially towards the end of his career, is unquestionable. He was actually getting better.

He retired before proving himself. That's his choice, but I'm not about to let his fans pretend he did. He did not challenge himself enough during his career to prove anything other that he was very talented, and he had very conservative matchmaking. Didn't lose, but also didn't take any risks or fight the best in his division.

They give him credit for Makhachev's wins too. On his own merits Khabib is nowhere GOAT status. He's arguably the LW GOAT, but if Makhachev keeps winning even that won't be debatable.

Lololol

None can withstand the might of the Khabib era.

You must join with us, Ares.

There is no such thing as the Khabib era. The guy fought once a year, and most of the time it was pretty boring.
