So he'd be getting a title shot before than the one who was promised a title shot but ended up fighting and winning vs a lower ranked but dangerous opponent who was also undefeated? Shavkat would only be open to if Islam wanted to fight him before as a #1 contender match, since he sees value in defeating Islam Makhachev, and is a high $ fight and one that he seems pretty confident.

He already cleared out the god damn division.. If he wants harder competition then he should move up.

There's not a single person that's giving him props for fighting Gaethje over Ilia.

And there is not a single person who would give him props for beating Topuria either, and at least Gaethje is ranked 3. Clearing out the entire top 6 of your division(after Poirier beats Max again) is more impressive than the LW champ clearing out the FW division.

If Islam beats Topuria, it'll already be called "picking on FWs", and if Topuria loses after that, it'll be called straight up can crushing.

That's whats funny.. Based on the logic Islam's camp is putting out.. The only possible scenario is that Topuria gets beat and becomes a can. He probably will get beat by Islam. He probably will stay in Lightweight after that and become a great fighter. He's young, dude.

Yes, because he pulled out for the same reasons Belal pulled out the first time when he vs Belal was scheduled. Only, his recover will be way quicker. Like, it's been announced that Shavkat is next for the title lol. Like when Ankalaev was the next and they just kept that mostly a mystery due to a potential Poatan vs JJ, it's official that Shavkat is next for the title. He has more than earned it. 19 wins, 18 finishes, is on the division and winning since Khamzat was still at wether weight... Not only he was assured to fight for the title officially, it's a joke to say Islam deserves it over him.

But Islam can fight him as a possibility I think because he likely wants to stay active, knowing that activity is key for having a good title shot. He has already said he wants more activity, to have more fights booked (since most of the top 5 all avoided him... He was always the big deal that even Usman didn't want to fight... Even Khamzat was kinda avoiding hyping up a fight vs Shavkat. But it's cool because Khamzat generally says the fighters are "bums" or "tough".... And despite calling many bums, with Shavkat, he said legit tough.



His views on Alex changed tho, ever since Alex defeated Hill. Jiri and Khalil, Khamzat said that "Alex has my sincere respect. He's one of the scariest fighters ever ... "

It's not "give me a title shot now and then I'll get around to fighting contenders later". Like you said, he's young, so not sure why he's the one getting fast tracked when he's only been in the UFC a couple years and is much younger with a much shorter win streak than Islam needed just to get his 1st title shot.

i agree and he shouldve already fought. My thing is Gaethje vs Islam is the worst thing that could happen.

If Islam won't fight Arman or Ilia he needs to move up. Period. And I mean Volk gave him his hardest fight, so let's not just lean on the whole featherweight thing. Most of the best lightweights fought at featherweight at one time.

I mean, since no one in the division is calling Islam out, yeah, I think. He has beaten everyone there already... So if he stays at 155, why not fight Topuria, who's the #3 pfp and a very skilled guy? Doesn't he want to fight the toughest opponents? But also, I'm not against he going up, but... If his justification is that Topuria never fought a 155, then it'd be rich for him to fight straight for the belt when Shavkat is one of the most deserving fighters who had already been guaranteed to be the next title challenger, who was when he beat U\Ian Garry, but Belal got hurt.... If he doesn't think Topuria deserves it despite the fact Topuria beat Holloway, the BMF champion who had won impressively vs Gaethje... Which other fight makes sense?

Topuria said he'd fight Charles tho... I think ideally Topuria should defeat either Charles or Arman to fight Islam. But even then would Islam fight him? Because Islam clearly doesn't want to be at 155 anymore... So that's the only chance he'd ever fight Topuria.
