Is todays Gane resume better than Aspinal's one?

So, injury its not a loss? Anderson loss to Weidman is not legit? Or OMalley loss to Vera?
Those are completely different. Tom's knee blew apart immediately, either from a wrong step or a pre-existing injury. O'Malley's foot shut down because he got kicked by Vera. Anderson's leg snapped because he didn't set up the kick and Weidman's coach is a dirtbag.

That early in his MMA career? If I'm being a stickler, maybe a -1 or -2. However, that was so long before his UFC run that inexperience can play a massive role in anything. Definitely not the same as being a contender in the biggest org in the world and laughing about having a glaring hole in your game. Especially when you lack the one-shot power to truly even the playing field like someone like Lewis.
I'm pretty sure being a multiple British BJJ champion and getting subbed by a random can would be bad in any scenario.

If it weren't Tom I guess eh

Nah. Shit happens in the fight game and inexperience can level playing fields. We saw Jacare get submitted because he got sloppy trying pulling out of an armbar attempt. Cro Cop got knocked out by a pure wrestler because he bit too hard on a level change feint. Things happen in fights. They're chaotic. Getting submitted in a scramble in your first four fights isn't near the same thing as just not training.

It's amazing you'd need to actually explain this.

First of all, how dumb are you really to not understand that people make leaps at different times. We ARE talking about MMA because grappling in MMA isn't the same thing as grappling in wrestling matches or in a bjj tournament or even a sambo match. And if you're too dumb to have seen guys make HUGE strides in their MMA careers as they move through their 20's (and I mean strides in SPECIFIC AREAS too, not just holistically) then you're too stupid to even bother with.

Again, please enlighten us how he went from being subbed at 22 in regionals to easily taking down and subbing a top 10, 44 fight vet who had only 2 previous sub losses and hadn't been subbed in a decade...without seeing huge improvements in his grappling? C'mon genius, let's hear it.

Stuart is a better grappler than Volkov actually, what's so hard to understand.

The loss to Jones would be a "good loss" if he put up a fight. He hit like 5 strikes and half of those were leg kicks before being subbed in 2 minutes.

Ok, Jones is one of the GOATs, but that loss was bad.

If we take scoring system:
1 point - average win
2 point - good win
3 point - elite win
-1 point - "good" loss
-2 point - loss
-3 points - bad loss

Gane:
Volk 2 - 2 points (close fight, but with injury)
Spivak - 1 point
Tai - 2 points
Lewis - 2 points
Volk 1 - 2 points
Rozen -1 point
JDS old - 1 point
Ngannou - -1 point (basically draw, but injury Ngannou)
Jones - -1 point (loss to GOAT, but easily)

Overall - +11-2=9 points

Aspinall:
Blaydes 2 - 2 points
Palvo - 2 points
Volk - 2 points
Spivak - 1 point
Tybura - 1 point
old Arlorski - 1 point
Blaydes - -2 points (injury, but not to elite fighter)

(also loss to Stuart is -3 points, but we dont count it here)

Overall - +9-2=7 points

So overalll Gane resume is now better, but if Asp beat him clearly, he gain 3 points and Gane will lose at least 1 point, so Aspinall would have better resume.
lol no, Jones was a 'good loss'? It was the worst, most pathetic loss in recent memory. Definitely a -3 if not -4

The amount of disrespect Aspinall gets on here is weird. Fucker is the future of the HW division and instead of his props he gets this kind of bullshit all the time.
It's Jones nut swingers with nothing to do

Gane: subbed in first round by the paper champ who had been winning 5 round decisions.
Aspinall: retired the paper champ by saying “boo”

By what metric LMAO? Outside subbing a 22 year old, green Aspinall in his 4th pro fight a decade ago...what has Austin done with that grappling? Volkov is fighting top 10 guys, who's Austin fighting these days?

GTFO with your disingenuous bullshit. You really think you aren't transparent as hell the way you twist and squirm to try to create a moronic narrative that nobody with a brain would ever buy?

You think it's LESS embarassing to being beaten at your own game than to be beaten at something you don't know?

Well that's certainly a new excuse. Would love to hear your thoughts on UFC 1 then.

I think getting caught when you're a kid is less embarrassing than losing your biggest opportunities because you're a lazy cunt.

Nice deflection....Volkov is a better MMA fighter but Austin a better grappler, which was the actual statement I made. You exhibit a lot of feminine traits: very emotional, can't stay on topic, create straw man arguments, very poor or altogether absent logic.

Or perhaps just very young? I imagine it's uncomfortable when a hyper-masculine authority figure like myself puts you in your place and dominates the exchange with superior intellect, resulting in you lashing out in exasperation as the only coping mechanism.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anyone who describes themselves as "hyper-masculine" is an absolute bitch. We're talking about MMA grappling, bitch, so again please tell me what Austin has shown beyond subbing a super green Aspinall that makes him a better grappler.

My God you are pathetic.

Good god this place is hilarious, esp when it comes to Gane.

Spent 6 months touting Gane as the next great HW because of abs and footwork. (Entire basis was he's in shape and moves like a smaller man).

Jones kills that hype in one of the more embarrassing in cage performances on Gane's part, this place immediately goes into "he was never that good" mode for little other reason than to discredit Jones. Paper champ talk was being passed around before Tom was even being mentioned, largely because Gane never should've been there in the first place. That was waffle #1.

Now we're seeing waffle 2. We're trying to build a new great HW, so Gane is suddenly amazing again, what a resume!

It's literal clown shit.
Yep everyone who is saying Gane is a can white belt with no wrestling will be flaunting Aspinall beating Gane. I really don't agree with the guys who are mad at UFC not giving Volkov the win against Gane so Aspinall has to waste his time with a rematch. Gane and Almeida are the only good HWs Aspinall hasn't beaten yet.

After that the division is literally free title defenses, but I bet UFC forces Tom rematches or gives LHW champ a title shot.
