Is it the Dagi domination, the lack of money or something else?

What do you make of this theory?

Let's think about it this way: If the UFC raised its rate of pay 10-fold tomorrow, do you figure more champions would gradually emerge from the U.S. at a higher proportion than from the Caucasus? Maybe a few more, but I believe the chain wrestling training that has become so effective in MMA is really the key.

Always with the excuses. "The US isn't the best at this particular thing cuz we prefer to do different shit cuz pays better".

Well, do soccer. Pays nice.
I believe american players would run soccer if they cared enough about it. I can only imagine because the culture surrounding soccer is so much deeper abroad that they have better trainers, training camps, coaching ect. It would take years (maybe decades) for america to catch up and it absolutely could.

Soccer pays great. So does baseball, basketball, American football...money is one factor but there are obviously cultural reasons for Americans preferring certain sports to others as well.

That's what they said back in .. what, 1990?

The US stil isn't anywhere near of having a competitive soccer team. It's the world's biggest sport.

Me, personally, if i ran a country, I would say: Listen, we're gonna dominate the worlds biggest sport in 10 years. Let's do this!

But no, the US were content by merely winning at basketball.

Seriously: The gap between US basketball and the rest of the world has closed more significantly than the gap between US soccer and the rest of the world.

It's cool though. And it is what it is.

yeah and? Just because "They" said it in 1990 doesn't mean they were wrong. I dont think the states has put in the effort with soccer anyway. They are probably gradually becoming better at it rather than dramatically.

compariatively, I think it would take longer for the europeans to get good at NFL football than it would for americans to become world class at soccer. The true difference is interest.

How much does a country that has a comparable population to the current top 5 ranked countries combined need to care exactly in order to produce a good team ? i'm not even talking "dominating", i'm talking a team that can at least make it to the quarter finals regularly and produces a Ballon D'or candidate every now and then. Bearing in mind the MLS is actually one of the biggest money and highest attended leagues in the sport too.

Any way you look at it the US punches well below its weight in soccer, same with rugby and also now MMA as well.

I think it's funny thar the world cares more about US soccer than the US cares about US soccer.

WGAF if it's the world's sport. It clearly isn't as popular here.

Let's line up your soccer players vs our football guys and talk for real though.

TBH most Americans probably annoyed as hell with soccer because yall taught LeBron the art of the flop :D.

Soccer is dumb that's why we don't care. Why would this one sport be impossible to Crack but we win at every other sport. It is like the 5th most popular sport for guys in our country. How is Frances mens 5th most popular sport. Its a society thing. Soccer matters way less here.

Im not sure why one title win has everyone questioning if anyone will ever win again. If you think khamzat is breaking andersons record fine. We have had many dominant champs but he hasn't defended his belt yet. Before we change rules let's see a few wins. He looked very strong Saturday but its one thing to win another thing to defend multiple times
