Whats wrong with judo and suicide? without judo i might as well be dead now considering it took me out of a huge depression and makes me go by in this monotone world without the need for antidepressants and ansiolitics. And i was never succesful in judo.
Now that girl was in the top of the world and incredibly beautiful, what a shame

well? is it?
There is even a debate now (see the book Choque) if Carlos actually learned from Madea.
What is the alternate theory?
What is the alternate theory?
According to Roberto Pedreira's new BJJ history book, 'Choque', he states that there is no evidence Carlos Gracie ever trained with Maeda, which surprised me. I knew the other four brothers didn't train with Maeda, but I thought at least Carlos did.
Apparently, Carlos actually learned from Maeda's student, Donato Pires dos Reis. He also didn't start the Academia Gracie in 1925, according to Pedreira's book: instead, he took over Pires dos Reis' academy a couple of years after that, having previously been one of his assistant instructors.
Not sure if that is common knowledge, but it was new to me. Interesting book, which has a lot of footnotes and references, meaning that those who can read Portuguese (unfortunately not yet including me) should be able to check his research. Most of it appears to come from Portuguese newspapers.
