Tech "intel's f-----"

LMFAO, they have $35bn cash-on-hand.

They don't pay for shit they don't have to for the same reason rich sports owners get subsidies from cities to build new sports arenas. Because they're smart.

fwiw, they also have $40B in debt.

but as usual, you missed the point i was making. patty g has been speaking out of both sides of his mouth. in one week, he gave interviews where he bragged about their position... and begged for taxpayer money (again). it's a shit show.

Large corporations always seek tax subsidies when opening up a new location. Situation is narrow to frame larger speculation on.

Pat explains how Intel plans on creating new technology by doubling their ability of testing and refining their process by pouring more resources. He stated that the last decade had a wrong headed approach and that he will bring Intel forward by retaining an gaining talent back or hire moving forward. Oh no doubt US has a huge part in this effort and that Intel is the only US based company that is still doing this volume of chip manufacturing in the US not AMD, IBM or Nvidia. He is very much the engineer and researcher I know because he used to run a part of a company I used to w0rk at so I have seen his mindset very different then the previous CEO.

So after 22 pages are intel fucked or not?

have you seen their market cap from the thread's beginning to now? (quite fucked)

honestly, i think the biggest factor now for their fucked/unfuckedness is the level of govt bailouts they're begging for/receive.

TSMC? Never mind the billions an billions they received from Taiwan one of the most subsidized companies in the world. Taiwan has plowed record sums to gain a dominate position.

"
TAIPEI -- "Foreign chipmakers vying for U.S. subsidies will keep their valuable intellectual property on their own shores, ensuring that the most lucrative and cutting-edge manufacturing stays there."

In Politico last month, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger took aim at Washington's decision to subsidize the $12 billion chip fabrication plant being built by rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in Arizona.

The U.S. lured TSMC with the promise of generous support as part of its effort to break its reliance on foreign supplies of critical parts. But Intel -- America's top chip company, which has its own fabs in the desert state and plans to build more -- has not taken"

holy shit, man.

i know you hate taiwan, but way to miss the obvious points.

taiwan's taxpayer $ =/= our taxpayer money

intel's fabs aren't cutting edge

the reasons given for the bs (automotive "chip shortage" primarily and military secondarily) make more sense to give subsidies to texas instruments than intel.

i wouldn't even care if intel gets funding... as long as tsmc and other fabs being built in the usa get the same funding, too.

but... but taiwan!

How do you make this about Taiwan I have no idea I am talking about a level playing field I don't hate Taiwan like you suggest. It does not matter what industry chips, automotive or airplanes. Airbus would not have the A380 even though it has really not to lived up to expectations due to fuel costs to run and other issues it took the crown as the largest airplane in operation from Boeing. Here my issue it would not have happened if the European agencies did not front them 7 billion Government dollars to fund the development the same European agencies hair was on fire when it was suggested that no US government money could be used to help Boeing fund the development of a next generation plane. Intel very capable of building sub 7nm chips but was run by a bean counter who thought that money was waisted and just do stock buybacks when the product was losing ground to AMD. Worldwide chip shortages prove no one company or few companies can resolve the need companies have to have the latest technology to build autonomous cars, advance tech like AR, VR, manufacturing technology or home assistant robots. So stop making this sound like I hate Taiwan.

lolz. there's so much wrong with this. hahahaha

and after intel failed to deliver in another ER, amd just crushed it. again.

<{outtahere}>

See I am not afraid of posting this you know why because it also shows the gap between the M1Max an the Intel 12 generation is not that great and overall gaming performance is better with the Intel. I think many will take a small hit in video editing if they can do many other things better with the 12 gen intel solution. The initial reaction when the M1 came out was X86 was doomed now not so much but go ahead be your usual self. Power use is still an issue but when they move to 5nm next year if not sooner that problem will be resolved.

Intel promising millions of GPU's before the end of the year.

I understand the hate. Intel hasn't exactly been innovative in years and they are overpriced. That said, they are always solid products despite the price and I have NEVER had a problem with any of their CPUs in any build ever. They are rock solid and don't die.

When I build a new PC, I care the most about reliability and stability since I'm on it all day and it's my main entertainment base. Intel has never failed me and I'm not going to give up on them until the quality starts slipping.

Not overpriced anymore.

you're kidding, right? the quality slipped for about a decade. they're referred to as space heaters for a reason.

even alder lake, which has better relative specs than anything they've done in ages, is basically nuked with wattage.

you have no idea how appropriate these 2 tweets are. intel's 2 best chances at staying alive/turning around are govt bailouts and cutting into nvidia's market share.

Again your posts are full of hate when will you own up to the fact that you own AMD and TSMC shares? I don't own a single share of Intel, AMD or TSMC. All I am pointing out the US chip making has suffered because of reliance on overseas manufacturing and we can never have enough production just to take care of our needs. It would be nice if I could buy an NVidia GPU like a 3070Ti for 699 or less not 1,200 dollars because the scalpers have sucked up all the supplies.

With Intel gaining production capacity that is insanely expensive and IBM looking into entering the 3rd party production business the US needs to invest in the ever more expensive production. So go ahead share a meme or post hate full stuff I still believe we need all the capacity we can get I been posting this fact for well before the chip shortages. This is not unlike going into space where no one company can fund this it needs massive amounts of Government cash as other Countries have done.
