I mean, plenty of the people I'm sure are shitty people, but if the idea is that there is a bunch of guys who are socially awkward and resentful about how they can't find a relationship, then the fad of piling on them is like trying to kick them while their down. In our modern society where you are not allowed to hate any of the traditional groups people have hated throughout history: Jews, minorities, homosexuals, women, etc, we needed a new group that it was socially acceptable to hate because human nature demands one. There’s nothing involuntary about them not being able to meet women. Its just a cop out so they can avoid looking in the mirror and addressing the real issues in their lives. There are always going to be more fortunate people in life, better looking, more money ect. But that doesn’t mean your stuck, you can always take steps to improve your life, working out, going out, joining groups, meeting people and improving your overall social skills. I understand life can be pretty unfair, but you shouldn’t let that be your cop out so you never have to put forth any effort in life.

Had this conversation with a friend who is on the path of becoming an incel and sending me red pill and incel videos. I told him to find a passion other than his work and it would be way easier to meet girls. In the end, it boils down to

Incel as a word is definitely new but the phenomena isn't. Resentment over not being considered desirable, self seclusion and mental issues are human characteristics but involuntary celibacy happens all over the animal kingdom. Elephant seals come to mind as alpha males have harems while the weak males have no chance to mate.

I used to make the joke "There's nothing involuntary about my celibacy" and I feel like the world would be a better place if the "incels" would all remember that credo. I sat around for quite a few years NOT getting all butt-hurt and sad about the fact that I enjoyed being along, working, doing art, and playing games rather than dating. Then when I met a person I really liked, and who shared the same interests and humor as I did.... it was pretty damn great. I didn't settle, but I also didn't blame anyone but myself that I wasn't meeting people. And if I hadn't met anyone, I'd be comfortable in my solitude rather than seeeeeeeathing anger from an imaginary illuminati terror-scape some people think exists.

Have y'all ever looked at a incel message board? It makes WR-Sherdogger look 30% more normal (I'd wager 15% of WRers are legit "incels").

I'm not so sure, there are some people that got a really shitty deal in life. It doesn't apply to most incels but it's true. There was that guy who founded 8chan, one of the incel hotbeds, look at him

I've always been confused by the ire to the cuck thing. I do get that, say, you are blindsided by your partner stepping out on you and you're shamed by it. Okay, but that's not really cucking is it? That's just being cheated on. Cucking specifically that you either don't mind, or actually derive pleasure from your partner enjoying other partners... right?

To me that's just another part of that spectrum of sexuality. I can't connect with it any more than I can connect with gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc... etc... but I can see why if you like it and it makes you happy that you'd do it.

The whole "cuck insult" is that you're shaming the person for liking it, right? You're implying there's something wrong with liking that. And to me, that's why it doesn't really work as an insult. The term is a fad. The group of people themselves have always been a reality.

You have to remember that this is a label they gave themselves - "involuntarily celibate" shortened to "incel". 100 years ago, the random incels would be isolated cases, they would fade into irrelevance or change. Now, thanks to the internet, they can bond together through their misery. They neither fade away because they now have an in-group nor do they change because they have fellow incels telling them that their experience is not their fault, it's happening to others.

The term is appearing everywhere because these incels are yet another vocal social minority that uses the internet to amplify their social presence beyond their actual numbers. The media picks up on them because we've had some very sensationalist crimes committed by people who share their opinions, such as that guy Elliot Rodger.

They're not going anywhere, although the term they self-refer by might change.

Right, the term is new but the condition is surely as old as time. If you haven't seen it in a while, go watch the movie Taxi Driver again. Travis Bickle's delusional, hateful rantings often sound like a fairly typical War Room post on the subject of women, minorities, major cities, and general societal collapse. Sometimes I wonder, do some people watch a movie like that and see a hero instead of a monster?
