So I decided to start watching fi --- *pauses movie* Sorry about that... I decided to start watching Fifty Shades of Grey and this has got to be one of the cringiest movies I've ever seen so far. It is both funny and a bit embarrasingly uncomfortable.
Seriously, it comes across almost like one of those Parody movies they loved making in the 2000s. The main character is this perfect, Marty Stu, knock off Bruce Wayne type. 1,000 suits of the same color for some reason, a hundred ties, basically he's Patrick Bateman. Every time he says some line or completes the girls thoughts I cringe at how corny it is.
The love interest is the typical dorky, sweater-wearing girl who literally trips on the floor and can barely form coherent sentences when he is around. Although he works in an office ran by nothing but sexy librarian, pornstar type women in professional attire, he seems to want the dorky girl.
I'm starting to realize movies like this are the female equivalent of porn. The acting is exaggerated, the plot is silly, and it only exists to send the watcher off to a fantasy world. The main character is probably created so that plain Janes and nerdy young women who blog on Tumblr can project themselves onto.
Since I'm watching it as a straight male, it's kinda hard to connect to the main character and get into but I'm gonna try to finish this...
