I'll admit being a big Khamzat a** licker, that fight wasn't entertaining.

It was plenty entertaining if you did your homework. Dricus was in the same position as Whittaker for close to three rounds, and the battle was between his knee-elbow connection on the near side and Khamzat’s hook. The slightest loss of focus and they would have been digging his teeth out of his throat. It was obvious Dricus gambled it all on positional defence, and he said as much himself beforehand, his strategy was fine until the end of round three - survived everything Borz had and came out relatively undamaged. Then it fell apart when Khamzat came out in round four as strong as he started. You could see DDP’s body language changing between rounds from “he’s got nothing else” to “I’ve got nothing else.” He still showed incredible defence. Borz is just quite clearly a different animal with the new cardio regime and it’s not really clear how you’d stop him. It was an F1 or Le Mans race of a fight, they’re not all monster truck rallies.

Fair enough response, thanks. I still found this fight least entertaining compared to his others. But you know what that's the problem, I've been spoiled with so many great Khamzat fights I was just expecting maybe too much from him at this point. Nothing against Khamzat at all, he did what it takes to win the belt. And that's the bottomline.

I said this during the GSP era. It's so difficult to finish someone who just shells up and pretty much just goes full defense mode. We've trained like this in Muay Thai, Judo, and Bjj where one person goes full defense and you have to land your strikes, submit the person, or throw them. Its extremely difficult. This was not Khamzats fault. It was DDPs.

It’s not sports entertainment, it’s fighting. Anybody who fights and doesn’t do so with a view towards their longterm health is not an intelligent person. In every fighting art, the top guy is winning. It’s not up to that guy to take risks, a cheering crowd doesn’t stop CTE and you won’t remember those cheers if you have dementia. Plus the fans who demand more violence are usually also the first ones to say fighters shouldn’t have healthcare or retirement. If I could fight like a Dagestani I’d do what Khamzat did too. It’s up to the guy whose belt I’m taking to stop me. And there’s something to be learned by watching a master of the craft essentially spend 25 minutes squashing an elephant.

People were saying Fluffy is going to be his kryponite but they are now gone these ppl hence why we needed this 5 round dominance showing
I ain't gone no where, and still would like to see Fuffy get a shot at the title, and would bet $ it would be a better fight against Kahzmat than DDP put forward. Fluffy has been winning in the same dominant and suffocating style as K-mat, except you don't see World wide complaints about boring fights with Fluffy. How many times did Fluffy back up, and back off of Roman D., to allow him to get back up and start again, and again, and again? Fluffy got a devastating finish, K-mat not so much.

Khamzat had the crucifix position like 4 times, and held on to those positions for long periods of time.

This position has DDP's head completely exposed, because he can't defend at all with both arms tied up.

Khamzat should have been dropping hellbows to finish him. But he just gave baby taps to his head, wtf?

Every fight I've seen that a dude has a crucifix, they finish their opponent.

I couldn't quite believe what I was watching tbh when he had those dominant positions.

Sports is entertainment when it comes down to it. You are telling me you go to sports event and hope it's not entertaining? You want to be entertained, that's just human nature. No one will watch any sport if wasn't entertaining enough for them in the long run.

Trust me, I respect and understand the nuances of the fight game, but I'm looking at it objectively and also going by Khamzat history. He usually gives us a very entertaining fight. Nothing against Khamzat at all. I just been spoiled by his previous fights. To be honest if I didn't see his other past fights. I'd probably be more entertained with this last fight.

But anyways. Khamzat will be one of the greatest when it's all said and done.

It’s not the Ultimate Sports Championship. MMA always has been and always will be about effective fighting techniques in opposition to sporting techniques like point karate and entertainment like pro wrestling. No matter how Dana tries to rig it so grapplers get a title shot slower, it doesn’t matter. The most important punch in boxing is the jab, the most boring punch of all. In jiu jitsu it’s probably positional dominance, in wrestling it’s probably pins, in judo it’s grips. People who don’t understand this will eventually give up on MMA.

Khamzat lived up to the nick name of "Borzzz" in this hugfest because it was extremely boring

Even the pro Hamas crowd who was on his side in the beginning was booing all that hugging

Khamzat fans who are defending this hugfest better keep up that same energy when other huggers like Gamrot or Mosvar do this

and besides, the UFC’s biggest entertainer was Conor. How many people are still laughing now?

Noobs & casuals will be unhappy with Chimaev's performance. I, on the other hand appreciate all aspects of MMA. Just like I enjoy watching a "just bleed" fight, I also enjoy a good grappling contest or a ju jitsu tussle, or a wrestling clinic.

Khamzat owned Dricus. Anyway you wanna spin it fact of the matter is Khamzat is holding gold. You can't blame a guy for using the best tool in his toolbox.

DDP actually did well hiding his head and taking advantage of the no strikes to the back of the head rule. Honestly, I wouldnt give up that position if I had it. But, DDP needs to learn that laying flat on his back doesnt help him get that arm free.

Go buy this DDP:

Can’t wait until huggers rightfully dominate every division.

Khamzat was the only one fighting.

That's exactly what Khamzat was avoiding. He hugged and threw baby taps to try and avoid a stand up, the ref still broke them up, and that pro Khamzat crowd were booing him in the end.

I don't give a shit about MMA fans at the events dude. They're mostly dumb and most are barely fans.

Khamzat fought, khamzat was active and doing some damage and went for subs when the opportunity arose. DDP bucked a few times, almost got caught when his back was given and like he basically admitted post fight, accepted losing a decision on his back versus giving his back and likely getting subbed.

I am the same. Haven't watched much DDP but after last night, fuck that like I'll ever watch this guy fight again. One of the most boring fights I've ever seen and this dude laid on his back for 20 minutes just playing the game of halting the fight.
I have to admit I know little about Duplessis but it seemed clear to me they were on 2 different levels. Chimaev should have been able to do more. Hell, his strikes on the ground weren't even Royce Gracie level .

Why was DDP's lip folded in and he couldn't even talk right post fight?

Oh, no. He had a boo boo on his lip? :rolleyes:I've had more serious injuries from pillow fights.

The fight was garbage and Chimaev was boring, period. There's no real reason to defend it.
Not the flex you think it is admitting someone fucked you up in a pillow fight lol

Now that he's the champ, Khamzat won't even try to finish his opponents anymore. Why would he? Every one of his annual fights will be like this from now on.

maybe just stick to pillow fighting on saturday nights and leave the fight watching to the men
