I think Volk-Islam #1 was the final, elite-level fight for Volk. It happens. Just off the top of my head, another example was Koscheck vs. prime Hendricks in a very close fight. After that fight, Koscheck was never the same. I think he was finished in all his remaining fights. You see that happen with some guys when they hit their mid-30s. One really good final performance and they're done.
