Social ICE/deportation protests and riots megathread

An ICE agent or police officer placing themselves directly in front of a vehicle and then using force because the driver moves or accelerates is usually not justified. Doing so is commonly viewed as officer-created jeopardy.

He was in front of the car when it moved forward. Therefor, he was in imminent danger.

no he wasn't, the fuck are you talking about?

he was on the left side of the car when acceleration happened. You have to click the link to see the actual video, but you are either trolling or lying.

Don’t even bother with that guy. He just loves seeing this shit happen. We have to accept that there are just many evil people in this country and consider them lost causes. My thinking is we should spend energy on independents or non MAGA republicans instead. I don’t even bother arguing with the MAGA posters anymore. I mean think about it for a minute. Has one ever changed their mind like ever? Not that I’ve seen. Waste of time

Oh, hi Mr Mayor! <lol>

ICE agents and police putting themselves in front of a vehicle and then using force when the driver moves or accelerates is not justified and considered officer-created jeopardy. I've seen all the videos so far of the incident and that one agent puts himself in the situation leading to what happened. This is not a justified shooting at all

Well, I've seen two videos now. And it was a clean - I don't want to use the word "good" in this context - shoot. The ICE Agent who fired the shots was in front of her car when she drove towards him. Which means lethal force was justified.

Her actions don't appear to be deliberate. More like she panicked. However, the ICE Agent would only have seconds to react and protect himself. Her motivation wouldn't be a factor in his decision making process.
Snowflake and icy conditions,

Lost control of the vehicle. Unwarranted use of force..

Her family will get paid and trump forced to pull out of another city.

One agent is on the left, trying to open the door. Another agent is standing in front of the car when it moves forward.

Are you retarded or just vision-impaired?

Shocking but people seeing what they want to see. Most don’t even need to watch the video.

You are telling me, she drove her car at him? you can see where the tires are facing, she literally has them facing OPPOSITE of the agents when acceleration happens.
It doesn't matter. The agent isn't looking where the tires are facing, when you accelerate towards them. It's aggression with a deadly weapon. 9 times out of 10, you're catching a bullet.

All this time whining about law enforcement, and you still don't know how they operate? They don't take chances. It's not their duty to protect your dumbass, when you put their lives at risk.

Wasn't a female shoplifter killed when she tried to drive away and a cop was standing in front of her vehicle? Did the cop face charges?

My friend who is a retired police officer in NY watched all the videos and said the ICE agent created the situation and that the shooting is definitely not justified

Literally. The US Supreme Court ruled a long time ago that police are there to enforce the law. They have no obligation to protect citizens.

There is little doubt it’s a justified shooting, but I don't like this type of officer-created jeopardy. Using your body to block egress as a lethal-force tripwire isn't good policing.

That is how I feel. I mean, granted I don’t know what was going on prior to the video, what caused the altercation and why the appeared to want to detain her.

This has all 3 angles available thus far, all slowed down. She does clearly hit him, tho not a very clean hit. He fires as she accelerates (he doesn’t know intention, or that she is making a sharp turn, plus is she already not cooperating and fleeing from being detained?)
without more details tho, I feel it is justified, but also quite a bad look for ICE.

And that gives you the right to run them over, does it? LOL.

It's always justified. The person in the vehicle does not have permission to run them over.

Oh', well my ex-cop friend said it was justified. I was on the phone with him the moment the story broke, just to make sure I had that backup on Sherdog.

Clearly trying to get away vs trying to kill officer, but if I'm being honest, on initial reviews I think there's enough plausible deniability to justify shooting in the moment, because it doesn't become super apparent that they're trying to turn away until the moment shots are fired.

Hope her family gets filthy rich after this

They will. On your dime too.

People are already terrified by ICE as they're able to act with impunity and seemingly no checks and balances, hence people acting irrationally, trying to aggressively drive away from them so they're not whisked away and have no contact with anyone. It puts the masked man child in a bad spot and results in a pointless death.
