My reply didn't allude to any political perspective. The crux of my post was in regards to our Marines (soldiers) stressed here at home which seemingly would be a walk in the park from being in the middle of ground warfare.

Marines are not soldiers. They are Marines. Soldiers belong to the Army and have a completely different mission to Marines.

Stress in unavoidable and we are taught to manage it not erase it. It is a necessary part of vigilance. So, there should always be a manageable level of stress present to prevent complacency and maintain vigilance.

Additionally, there is no comparison between active combat and being instructed to police civilians (which is not allowed except in highly specific situations). There are a great deal of issues tied to deploying service members against civilians and one wrong move could lead to serious legal action or serious damage to the trust built between the military and civilians.

Being under a manageable level of stress in one scenario does not directly dictate your ability to perform in a higher stress scenario. And at no point did I indicate that they were more stressed then they would be in combat.

We are legally not allowed to enforce laws over civilians and being deployed against people you swore to protect is a big issue for most service members for obvious reasons. The trust between military and civilians is treated as sacred and we work hard to maintain it to the best of our ability.

I seriously question the abilities of individuals who are feeling 0 stress from this situation. It should stress you out, you should be vigilant, and you should be at the ready to make hard decisions. That's part of being who we are.

I would assume the number of protestors is much higher than the numbers of NG and local authorities. If this is the case what would be the alternative, beyond expecting Karen Bass and Newsome to handle keeping their communities from burning to the ground... again?

Sending Marines just makes the situation worse because we aren't trained for these situations. LAPD had to divert personnel to monitor us just so the situation didn't escalate.

The NG and PD should be more than capable of handling this

I agree, however there are levels to stress. Armed forces who face combat come home with shell shock, PTSD, etc. etc. Would you make the claim that keeping the peace is going to affect them in the same way?
