MVP isn't actually that hot of a run. Two splits in a row against well-rounded opposition, then a freak injury win over Goiti.

Not saying anything bad about him or his performance against Holland, I just don't see Holland as being in the same league as Ian Garry.

This is a waaaaay harder fight for MVP, and very different I feel.

I don't know who is going to win but MVP is getting an easier matchup into the top 10 by facing a striker. I don't think he would have made it past the Neil Magny gatekeeper test.

I think a case can be made for Garry already hitting his ceiling. Barely scraped past Geoff Neal and couldn’t finish a one legged Magny, he isn’t going to turn into a D1 wrestler overnight plus he’s tall skinny and lacks physical strength/is vegan.

MVP matches up with him well in height and reach while also being the faster guy with more power.

I don't think Neil Magny is really a top 10 gatekeeper anymore, but I can see how he would be an awkward test for MVP.

You might be right Ian Garry is 'better' stylistically, but when it comes to these discussions I usually defer to ability and performance. I think Garry has more tools to expose MVP and inflict a really debilitating defeat.

Yes, I might be wrong, but I think Garry beats MVP up pretty badly, even if stylistically it makes more sense than MVP facing Magny.

This will come down to how well Garry can time those leg kicks. He has excellent ones, but he needs to land then with consistency to take away MVP's movement and lunges. Otherwise, he's getting cooked.
