I think we're all just flabbergasted with Shavkat's performance now

i think it was a bad matchup, shav not used to fighting someone taller than him, and they used to train together. i think shav's striking will be more effective vs belal. i liked what i saw with him weathering the RNC by garry as well. it was a clear win vs a bad matchup.

Agreed. I think a lot of people got caught up in all the drama others created around Garry and lost sight of how good of a fighter he was proving to be.
 
Shavkat and Garry have showed they have better cardio and can make weight consistently vs Khamzat despite being huge 170lb’ers.

How is Shavkat shit for having his first decision in 19 fights against a guy who is likely vastly underrated by haters.

If Khamzat fails to get the takedown and finish the fight there he’s gassing and getting priced up by either.

I mean he got hit like 150 times by the same predictable punch from the hip against a gassed guy with his arms down and like a 68 inch reach when he couldn’t secure a takedown. Same thing against off the couch Usman.

Lol@Khamzat not getting the takedown. He takes down Ian and Shavkat within 20 seconds.
 
This Is what happens when you get sold on aura, so many fall for this. His fights with Geoff and Magny were nothing too impressive, the only impressive thing everyone threw around was his 18-0 all finish record, but of 18 only 6 were ufc fights and only one KO.
He's not bad, but I wouldn't ever have favored him over Belal, or Leon, and not even Buckley and JDM. I don't think he deserves the title shot tbh.

Khabib's gorund game was always much more advanced than Shavkat's. Shavkat gets takedowns with sheer will and strength.
 
Another case of fighters on the come up who instead of trying to win, put on a fight where they try not to lose and hope the judges are on their side.

There was no aura about it. 100 pct finish rate is real. Undefeated. Violent ass finishes. It wasnt just made up, dummy.

Yeah man I was really impressed by him blocking shots with his face against Geoff Neal, and struggling to take down Wonderboy. He's violent I Will give you that, but he's nowhere near the unbeatable boogeyman people thought he was, I mean some people said he would beat khamzat lmao.
He barely scraped through this fight and was actually closer to getting finished than Gary, which surprised even me. The only reason he won was becase nothing happened on round 1 and 2.
I didn't even know this forum existed until like 1 week ago btw but I actually bet on Gary winning.

I know Ian poses some problems on the feet with his movement, length and quickness, so it's understandable that output was lower than usual. Butttttttt... the grappling is the concern. Shavkat landed like 1 out of 8 TDs or some shit and got his back took too.

Dawg, if Ian Garry is taking your back and squeezing a RNC, imagine the success Belal will have once that ass is on the mat.

So you guys think they are some super humans? In ur opinion goot fighter should not get hit at all good fighter should easly ragdoll and finish everyone? If fighter has hard fight he is not that good? There were people saying max hit ilia too much and he is not good 🤣🤣🤣 just stop watching mma
 
The nice thing about a fight like this where each guy can't do everything he's capable of is highlighting the strengths (and weaknesses) of each one that weren't 100% clear before.

Garry is very fast, has a decent chin, and really excellent mobility. He's long and the way he squirmed out of that first takedown attempt while keeping his balance was impressive. But he was gunshy and his RNC wasn't as effective as the body lock that put him in a position to do it.

Shavkat had better timing and counter-striking than Garry, despite Ian's speed. He also probably adapted better mid-fight by "wrestling the legs" as DC said, although Garry did ok there by attacking the lead leg with oblique kicks. Shavkat also showed better defence and doesn't get hit in the head much. However, he slowed more than Garry did in the championship rounds.
 
Why do people act like Ian is some bum? He is a real deal, don’t judge him by his personal lifestyle.
