It's been a long time coming but I finally have a full fledged arcade machine loaded with over 5000 games from the commodore to the gamecube. The frontends for emulation have come a long way and by using LaunchBox and paying the money for a lifetime donation to EmuMovies, I have sample movies, hi res images, and even the original game manuals for every game I installed. It is currently a whopping 830 GB. Lol

Pic Storm Incoming!!!

I mounted a 5.1 logitech speaker system (rather shittily) and this is the 27in lcd without the glass cover and mesh speaker grill.

The subwoofer is right behind the kickplate.

I left the original kickplate mostly intact. It was a Golden Tee cabinet.

With the glass cover and grill on. I had to cut some plywood to cover the marquee light because it kept bleeding through the speaker grill, ruining the ambience. Now there is no bleed, just light from the screen and the marquee.

The Big Box UI is so sweet. Here are some of my game systems....

And one of my favorite all time arcade games, even though I never actually played it in the arcade. I only played Die Hard Arcade, the spiritual predecessor.

I'd love to have an old school X-Men, TMNT, or WWF Wrestlefest arcade cabinet

WWF Wrestlefest is still the goat wrestling game for its Royal Rumble. The original X-Men cabinet was 6 player and fuckin enormous. Probably goes for 3k+. It was the ultimate game to team up with random strangers in the arcade though. Good times.

Whats the cost of something like that?

Could see myself playing some Gauntlet Legends on that

Awesome. Was talking to a friend about making one of these yesterday. I'd probably try to get a 4x control stix for those sweet arcade beat em up's!

How do you like the Tank Stick (controller)?

That's awesome. Having a home cabinet is one of my home entertainment goals, but I just don't have the space once the kids were born. One day!

Looks amazing but I often wonder how often people play on these things.

The cabinet was almost the cheapest part since it was just a scrap Golden Tee cab that I picked up from some random person for $65. The guy stripped out all the pricey stuff like the logic board, joysticks, crt screen, etc. He did some ghetto stuff to it as well and I covered it up as best I could.

All in all I probably spent about $800 more or less, on the following...
(Ordered by price lowest to highest)

various mounting hardware and screws
side panel vinyl graphic
powerstrips and cables
speaker grill
premium launchbox and emumovies accounts
marquee panel and backlight
arcade cabinet
5.1 speakers
xarcade tankstick
27in 1080p LCD
PC (i5, gtx 770, 2TB ssd)

The last 3 items were like 80% of the budget and funny enough, they are stand alone and don't even require an arcade cabinet.

I could have built this for $600 if I very carefully picked my monitor and PC.

It's durable as hell. Some people swap out the joysticks for official happ ones but I'm not super into fighting games so I don't really care about official quality. But you can pound on the buttons like you wouldn't believe and they can take it.

Sweet, Ice. Congrats on a mission completed and thanks for the pics. I dig that triptych on the wall too; looks like some type Japanese shogun scene.
