Opinion How does it feel to be a democrat right now?

While that is true, it feels different this time. The culture war wasn't nearly as prominent as it is now, with social media. It never felt like a sea change like this does. The Dems have never been this crazy and aloof before.

Anything can happen though. Obama fucked the Dems' shit up real good, in the last two years of his administration. Bush Jr went from badass defender of America, to shit heel war monger real quick. We'll see, but my prediction is that Conservatives in the west are about to have a nice long run.
Eh I fully expect Dems to take the House in 2026. They've got a decent shot at the Senate too (20/33 seats up are currently held by Republicans, although I expect Brian Kemp to unseat Ossoff here in GA if he runs).

Is it your assertion that Trump has had no influence on American politics since 2017 because he wasn’t in office? That would be a ludicrous and naive position. He killed an entire immigration bill just by giving his position on it—he didn’t need to be in office, Republicans just fell in line.

So tell me: since we can already deport people who do this, why do we need this law? What’s the point of it? Why are Republicans balking on passing immigration bills with us that contain things they asked for, but instead trying to pass superfluous laws?

So tell me why the hell would you ever vote for a Democrat for political office when as you admit even when elected to position of power they claim they are completely helpless victims, unable to do anything because people not in any government office with absolutely zero authority are controlling what they do?

Well, that's an easy prediction to make due to routine. It's very rare that the incumbent doesn't suffer in the mid-terms. That said, I think it's different now. We'll see, but I think the sea change is real, and Democrats aren't gonna win shit, until they cut the cancer out of their party that is the far left. Takes a lot to vote for the pro-criminal, pro-mutilating children, pro-illegal immigration party. Especially now that they've been rebuked and exposed. Gonna take a LOT to go back to that shit.

I haven’t followed the story super close, but I can tell you what occurs me. Mainly, we can already deport people for this reason. As you know, we don’t trust Trump, and don’t trust that his deportation efforts will really target the right people, or be done humanely. So I’d bet some Dems are suspicious, like, “You can already do this, so what do you really plan to do with this law?” That kind of thing. I don’t know if that’s their reason for voting against it but that’s what occurs to me.
I appreciate the response I am not sure you fully believe they didn't pass it because Trump can deport them?. They voted no on this before the election btw. Dems also voted no to keep men out of woman's sport besides 2 dems. Not sure your thoughts on that. I hope all is good with the family

They will be fine. They know the only reason they lost is because of racism and abcdeft++++++ phobia. They know they can fix that by going more to the left on all the issues.

Dems are just fine. Most have rationalized Trump used his superhuman alien-derived telekinetic abilities to brainwash half the country to vote for him instead of coming to terms with Americans not agreeing with open borders and 87 genders.

Oh I forgot to add the party doesn't get compared to a gang of Nazi's. Not starting off great America again?

Since you apparently have intimate knowledge of Donald Trump's cabinet nomination decision criteria, how about you show some good faith and explain to us how he made his picks the first time and how he changed his criteria this time. What the hell is wrong with your talking about checks and balances, the President's cabinet is not supposed to be a check and/or balance to anything you goof.
well, given that most of his first cabinet endorsed his opponents it's safe to say he's going a different route this time. the president's cabinet is supposed to provide guidance and expertise and leadership to the president and the departments they run, not be yes men/women who profess loyalty first.

If you think AFD is a neo nazi party you aren't fit to work at macdonalds.

People voted for institutional change.

Anyways, I think Liberals are feeling like the black knight from Monty Python right about now...

Oh I’m concerned about a lot more than that—but yes, I think what I said is fully in Trump’s wheelhouse. You don’t think Mr. Fake Elector Scheme would allow his opponents’ data leaked so they can be harassed or threatened? There’s all sorts of other things that can happen. He’s already hinted at tribunals and retribution for the representatives we elect. That’s one easy thing he can do: target Dem leaders for prosecution of whatever sort, make people afraid to run for public office that oppose him. Have known voters of those people harassed, as we’ve seen done already. Have donors threatened, that’s easy enough to do.

A person like Trump, with enough loyalists, and a nice new SCOTUS immunity decision, can do a lot to harm his enemies and silence people.

I don’t vote for him but I am not concerned that he is coming after me and tens of millions of others
