Opinion How does it feel to be a democrat right now?

What's happening in California right now should destroy the progressive Democrat agenda but they are still clinging to their agenda.

John Fetterman ironically is one of the few Democrats trying to change with the times by becoming more moderate.

What Democrat policy could have been changed to prevent these fires?

If anything, it's the physical manifestation of the reality of Climate change, that Republicans deny the existence of.

To answer theTS:

Although I am not a declared member of any party, in the current landscape I would absolutely consider myself a Dem. I wouldn't want to be affiliated with the Republican party in any way, because I believe that this next 4 years (at least) is going to be one of the darkest times in American history... but I am a pessimist by nature.

SO: Right now, I feel as though for the better part of a year, I've been shouting/screaming, really... at all Americans that the bridge is out on Republican way, but that more than half the population wants to Dukes of Hazaard it. Now it's like watching the inevitable demolition occur in slow motion as I shake my head thinking.... whelp, it's been a good run for Democracy.

Just snapshot America prior to Donny 2, and try to remember how good it was.

Record investment in infrastructure.
Record numbers of new small business launches.
Record Stock Market Performance.
Record new housing starts
Killing junk fees
Record Unemployment numbers
Bringing tech back to America with the chips act.
Lowering drug costs
Highest Domestic Oil production ever while maintaining a commitment to the environment.

Agreed. I don't feel super great right now. But not suicidal either. But I am hopeful that some democrats might decide letting 'girls with pee pees' play on the girls sports team just might not be the hill they want to die fighting on. If we had not been so focused on some of that shit, Trump would not have been able to lie to and terrify nearly 100% of the large and growing dipshit demographic that schools were carrying out sex changes without parental consent and kids were coming home from school with their dicks removed. He literally said that hundreds of times.

Hopefully Republicans will stop Trump from doing most of the shit he wants. It will actually be much better for them in the long run if they do. Giant tariffs, deporting hundreds of thousands of people, and tax cuts, yet he is somehow going to reduce the deficit? That would be an absolute fucking train wreck. Is there a single person on this forum that genuinely thinks that is the way to go?

I don't think people think that's genuinely the way to go but I don't think people take everything Trump says at face value either.

It's a weird place to be put in. On one side, you have a group of people who refuse to even define what a woman is and a bunch of followers who may be able to define what a woman is, but still feel an incessant need to come to their defense on the issue. On the other hand, you have a guy who is at least rooted in the same reality that most normal human beings are participating in but he has some bad policies. I personally will vote for the guy with bad policies over the people who refuse to define what a woman is. To me, that is a much more dangerous road to go down than tariffs.

It was a terrible hill to die on from the Democrats but I don't think they've learned their lesson with it.

What did this man do to you? You made an entire thread about him and you in every thread bringing him up. Were you two buddies back in the day and he stopped returning your phone calls?

I know him and Rogan were actually buddies and until Rogan stopped returning his calls....hence he made another Rogan bashing video just today lol

It's a feelings based ideology. It's why virtue signaling is such a big part of it. We've seen it... the Ukraine Flags, BLM Face masks, DEI policies...

There's no consideration of negative consequences as long as it feels good. There're like an enabling grandma who keep giving handouts to her criminal grandson... there's zero reason to for him to change his shit behavior. He's still getting his handouts.

Pretending you care about

- The homeless
- BLM
- Immigrants
- Transing kids
- Criminals

Until one of these policies you pretend to support rises up and slaps you in the face. Hence so many high profile media people getting red pilled. But you're not allowed to say anything because the lefty horde will converge upon you. I'm wondering how more high profile people will swing right after the LA Fires.

We saw Ana Kasparian get red pilled after getting sexually assaulted by a homeless guy. She posted about it and got attacked by the lefty horde...

Elon used to be left leaning... Especially in 2016 in when him and father clashed over Trump. Why did he move right?

Bill Mayer - We've all heard his story... and he's done with Democrats although he still hates Trump. Which is fine and i understand.

Multiple heavy blue cities along the Texas Mexico border went red. These were heavy majority hispanic cities that have voted blue for decades.

Amazingly, there was a solid trend of young voters who moved from Blue to Red from 2016 to 2024.

The stigma of supporting Trump greatly dissipated from 2020 to the election. I can't quite explain why. Maybe it was because Biden was so bad and Kamala continually proved she was an idiot. Maybe it was clown show of fake indictments. 2024 turned into the Red Wave that was expected for 2022.

This twitter post is the ultimate reaction of a life long Democrat who got a massive reality check

This is France... but it's another example. The theatre held an event for migrants and they took the oppurtunity to squat and never leave. Seriously, what the fuck? Is there no one who can make them leave? They've had to cancel events for weeks... lol

The Santa Ana winds are due to climate change? lol…

Might want to check on that

The Santa Ana winds and the accompanying raging wildfires have been a part of the ecosystem of the Los Angeles Basin for over 5,000 years, dating back to the earliest habitation of the region by the Tongva and Tataviam peoples. The Santa Ana winds have been recognized and reported in English-language records as a weather phenomenon in Southern California since at least the mid-nineteenth century. During the Mexican–American War, Commodore Robert Stockton reported that a "strange, dust-laden windstorm" arrived in the night while his troops were marching south through California in January 1847. Various episodes of hot, dry winds have been described over this history as dust storms, hurricane-force winds, and violent north-easters, damaging houses and destroying fruit orchards.

Sadly, I fear the degree to which Democrats evolve will be inversely proportional to the scale and scope of the Trump fuck up this time around. Trump is once again inheriting a sound economy. If the sets the whole thing on fire again, Democrats won't learn a fucking thing, they will just ride the resentment. But if Republicans can basically manage to do the opposite of what Trump ran on and continue incremental progression, I think it will force a reckoning within the party.

Democrat policies are not all unified. There are many democrats who don't espouse all the nonsense that the Trump campaign capitalized on. Like the trans bullshit. Most people are not obsessed with pronouns. Most people don't want to expose kids to that nonsense. And on the left, a lot of the people who tolerate it, only do so because it's fanatics on their own team. Trump was able to scare a lot of people into thinking that everybody wants to turn everyone into a trans person.

The sad thing is that the Democrats didn't lose on policy, they lost on the identity issues. Trump is not going to help people with home or rent prices, wages shrinking relative to cost of living, or student loans. It looks like he's going to backpedal even on one of his cornerstones which was immigration. Democrats did not wage the right kind of war. They should have hammered the things that are truly hurting citizens- food, employment and cost of living. But to be fair they should have been doing that before the election.
Why point out all the shit they, themselves have caused?

I can’t help but thing there’s some right wing propaganda at play here though. For example, prisoners had sex changes under Trump too and Kamala never even brought up trans people and yet when voters when to cast their ballot a lot of them felt like trans people were getting more attention than they were. I think a lot of this is due to right wingers bringing up trans people in all of their media constantly. I agree that they need to focus on things that help everyone though like healthcare. The fact that luigi killed a ceo and it united both parties should light a fire under the dems ass to run on this next time

Democrats like Bill Clinton were just fine. The issue is too many carry the D name but their policies are much more far left into areas of mental retardation.

Even the moderates now seem to feel the need to tow that line of retardation in fear of being shit on. Weird times.

Probably similar to how it felt to be a republican two decades ago. I just hope the republicans don't take advantage of this newfound success to put in a bunch of garbage policies.

This has got to be some Divine Intervention shit

The chances of all these happening in sequence is lower than winning the powerball lottery

-When Trump turned his head at the exact moment the bullet would've exploded his head on live TV
-The election results.. what are the chances Trump won, won the senate, won the house, won the popular vote
-The historical fire in LA of almost biblical proportions with all Democrat leadership

They'll screw it up

It's a bit of a shock and, honestly, disheartening to see how stubborn and petty Democrats and their supporters have been since Trump's landslide election. The country has spoken. He won the popular vote and every swing state. The campaign of fear directed at anybody openly supporting Trump and his policies is over. Cancel culture is dead. Wokeism is dead. Reality is going back to normal and America seems more enthusiastic for a new chapter than I've seen in a while.

I figured Dems, Libs, progressives, etc. would need a little time to process the election and use a little introspection to see just why they were so out of touch with the majority of American voters. But there hasn't been much introspection at all. Just lashing out like a child. These are grown adults acting like this. Unfortunately, Democrats and their supporters have lowered the moral bar so low they may not be able to acknowledge reality until well after Trump is out of office.

Same as always, great up and lived in mostly red states my whole life. Seeing Americans as idiots who vote against their interests isn’t anything new to me. Now it’s just waiting for the collapse that literally happens after every republican presidency.

Kamala never even brought up trans people?

As Biden would say....come on man.
